  1. Limiting amount of text for "Featured Authors" on the homepage

    On the books homepage (https://www.mountaineers.org/books), some authors will have a lot more text show up on the "Feature Authors" portlet. Can we limit that to only display a maximum of 10 lines (or whatever looks the nicest), perhaps with a "Read More" link to expand the text if needed

  2. Make Activity Template's Activity Type a Multiselect

    Right now we have a number of leadership clinics which we are having a hard time reporting on since they are categorized by activity type when really we want them tagged as both the activity like Sea Kayaking AND outdoor leadership

  3. Option to see password on log in page

    I recently attempted to log in to my account and when I typed in my password (several times) I got a message that my password was incorrect. This didn't make sense since I had not changed my password. If I could have seen what I had typed in I would have been able to tell if it was my correct password or not. I did a reset. Many websites have an eye symbol at the end of the log in space so individuals can click on it and see if they typed the password in correctly or not. I would…

  4. Post application not registration dates for courses.

    When a course requires you to "apply" BEFORE you can "register,"it is much more important to know the date when applications begin rather than the date for registration. If someone reads "registration begins November 4th" they might return to the page on November 4th thinking they can register for it when they can't unless they're application has already been accepted.

  5. Include the "audience" field in the activity search results

    Activities allow for scoping them to a specific audience/affinity group via the "audience" field. In the activity search page, the audience can be used to filter activities targeting a specific audience. The issue is that the activities that appear in the search do not specify their intended audience. The result is that the audience is only known once the activity page has been opened. It would help if the audience was included in the activity info summary that's provided in the search results so that prospective participants can more effectively identify the audience of the activity they're looking at.

  6. Customizing Branch-Specific Blog Ribbons

    Create a feature that allows branches to have more customization privileges over their branch-specific blog ribbon. Often, staff-created blogs will receive the "All Branches" tag, and a branch's specific blog (like an upcoming branch event) will get buried beneath other org update blogs (and in some cases, entirely removed from the branch blog ribbon due to the amount of newer content).

  7. Change Author Contributor Types to Match Onyx

    The contributor types that the website can accept and that Onyx accepts differ. This requires the team to select a certain role to sync to Onyx and then change it to sync to the website. The reason they are different is so that the website contributors reads "Photography by __" vs. "Photographer __'. If we can separate the way that Acumen syncs with the website from what is presented on the web page we should be able to use the roles Onyx requires.

  8. Add the option to have hosts notified by e-mail when people register for a lodge stay

    I would like the ability for hosts to elect to receive E-mails when a new person registers or cancels a lodge stay.

  9. Carbon Offsets for Travel to Mountaineers Trips During Participant Registration Process

    This feedback is to request that IT work the conservation and development teams to make changes to The Mountaineers website and sign-up/check-out process for all Mountaineers trips to allow registrants the option to partially offset their transportation-related carbon associated their travel by donating to a Mountaineers Carbon Footprint Reduction campaign. In addition to the donation ask, we would also like to allow registrants to share if they plan to carpool or if they will use an electric vehicle to travel to the activity.   10. Simple and Effective Feedback Surveys & Incident Reports

    (1) Keep it simple and quick to attract more feedback.
    (2) For instance, we could have multi-choice or single-choice questions on page 1 (change it to cover a bigger picture than we do already) and have a conditional page if people wish to add more comments/improvements if they wish to.
    (3) Separate the near-miss report and incident report. They serve different purposed and requires attention and follow-up on a different scale.

  12. Update Billing Info for Automatic Renewal

    The billing info associated with autorenewal payments is not getting updated in tandem with the user’s profile. Let's tweak the process to update the autorenewal billing info whenever the profile is updated, or at least give users the option to also update their billing info when they update their payment card info.

  13. Display lifetime (or YTD) mileage and elevation on member profiles

    Pull the mileage/elevation data from the walking/hiking/backpacking activities you've participated in and show them on your profile. Would allow us to see who's really getting their steps in!

  14. Allow Waitlist order to be set by timestamp of when participant was waitlisted.

    I think it would be useful if there was a separate timestamp for when a participant was added to the waitlist, rather than using their application timestamp. I recognize that the registration timestamp can be adjusted manually, but it would be nice to try to find a systematic approach to save leaders from having to do that manually.

    Use case for this is if I post a climb for a specific SIG or students that need a graduation climb, I can prioritize them in the waitlist while also easily putting applicants who don't meet that primary criteria (e.g. graduates) into…

    This would be an OPT-IN only feature. Create a script that recognizes where each member is coming from without disclosing their precise location. Based on starting locations and where the activity starts i.e. trail head, let participants know based on that data how much of their likely drive routes match up. For example: You would get a notification that you and another participant are likely to share 90% of the same roads to travel to the activity.   18. badge clarification

    make sure badges actually have a person attatched to maintaining them. Some of the applications are quite extensive and if a person doe an application for a badge and never hears back, that is very frustrating. Also, there are a lot of badges people can get, we should highlight these and celebrate, also each activity should know what badges their branch offers and have budget money to do award celebrations.

  19. Update All Forms with Rich Text Fields

    Most forms on the website today use a Text field instead of Rich Text. For Equivalency applications and other long forms, this makes it difficult for the intended audience to read the submissions given all formatting is removed.

  20. Rate Hike Preferences

    I get daily emails describing upcoming Mountaineers hikes but for the most part they are too challenging or too long for me. I joined GoHike this year to find out about shorter hikes. I prefer hikes that are less than 10 miles. I think if would be great to be able to choose in preferences: Hikes less than 10 miles or Hikes greater than 10 miles/ strenuous.
