This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization. We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum first before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation of your idea and how it benefits The Mountaineers. Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have feedback forms so that you give feedback for everything in which you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. Not sure who the chair is? Visit our Committee Chair Directory or contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org.

If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback.   1. Updating the Book Details Page "Reviews" Tab GH2889

    Under a product page (let’s say: https://www.mountaineers.org/books/books/explore-europe-on-foot-your-complete-guide-to-planning-a-cultural-hiking-adventure) there’s the “Review” tab that we are currently pulling from Goodreads. We are wondering how difficult it would be to have it pull from Acumen instead, where we've been adding Reviews into Acumen: Prod Marketing -> Descriptive -> Review

    Also, we want to keep the star rating from Goodreads. Can those two elements be independent of each other?

  2. Please create two "outdoor leadership" activity types ~SFOnly

    In order to track what the mountaineers does in terms of outdoor leadership, we would like two activity types:

    Leader Development - Leadership Skills
    Leader Development - Technical Skills

  3. Backordered and Pre-order Books & Merchandise: Charge & Ship SD627/654/655/656/662

    As a customer allow me to pre-order or backorder a book that is not yet available or out of stock. When the book is available, charge my credit card, and ship the book I ordered to the shipping address I specified.

  4. Co-leader and Mentored Leader Activity Roster Automation GH2494

    For adding to only (not editing) an activity team roster record, if the role is "Mentored leader" or "Co-leader," automatically check the "Admins" and "Show as contact" boxes.

  6. Limiting amount of text for "Featured Authors" on the homepage GH2795

    On the books homepage (https://www.mountaineers.org/books), some authors will have a lot more text show up on the "Feature Authors" portlet. Can we limit that to only display a maximum of 10 lines (or whatever looks the nicest), perhaps with a "Read More" link to expand the text if needed

  7. Use different formatting for book title and subtitle in search GH2782

    It is really messy looking at book titles that have subtitles because its all huge font. Also the stars look a little weird.

  8. Backordered and Pre-ordered Books & Merchandise: Email Notification SD306

    As a site visitor. for books and merchandise items that are "out of stock," that is backordered or per-ordered, allow me to request an email notification when the item is back in stock so I can choose to purchase the item then if I still want it.

  9. Import Events from Facebook (upgrade plone.app.events) SD628

    As Mountaineers staff I need to import events from Facebook (that I exported to a .ics file) to an "events" folder on our website so that I do not have to double enter items.

  10. Promo Codes: Offer Discount for Books Added via a Registration Process SD425

    As a person registering for a course, course activity, trip activity or an event, give me a discount on any of the books that I added to my shopping cart from the book page shown at the end of the registration process. When I'm viewing the recommended books page, during checkout it will show me the amount of discount I'll receive.

    If I have a member promo code in the same cart, whichever promo code is greater will apply (the better deal). This book promo code will apply even if I register for the course at a different time.

    Please create positions specific to branch rosters:

    Member

    Note: "Member" is for branches whose committee chairs regularly attend branch council meetings but don't have a branch officer role (so its important we keep this) Thanks!

  12. Reclassify Snowshoe Routes and Trips Using New S/T Rating System ~WebsiteOnly

    This posting is the result of 1) a few years of cross-branch discussions among the Snowshoe Programs of the various branches, and 2) email discussions with the Program Center about how to go about changing the rating system used to classify Snowshoe trips. The feedback we received from the Program Center was that the correct way to document our request for changing the website was to post the changed to feedback.mountaineers.org.

    The website project needed to implement the new snowshoe S/T trip ratings is scheduled for work this spring/summer with the intent to be ready for the next season.

    We will need to provide new inputs for the revised snowshoe trip ratings, and your recommendations based on recently led or traveled trips is appreciated! We have created a Google spreadsheet to collect input. Please take a moment to share your recent insights on snowshoe trip routes.

  15. Need Feedback Survey for Lodge Stays SD634

    Right now there is no way for participants to submit feedback on their lodge stay. Create a web form survey like we do activities, courses, and events. On Mondays (or maybe Tuesdays to account for the holiday weekends), send a link to anyone who stayed at the lodge in the last seven days. Aggregate this feedback on the lodge pages.

  16. Integrate mountaineers.org Website and Learning Management System (LMS, aka eLearning) SD636++

  17. Make Event, Activity and Course feedback fields function the same way GH2762/3035

    All of our courses, events and activities have feedback forms but if you have a specific form you'd like to send to your participants we can make a change on the backend in salesforce. Unfortunately when we do this the field shows up differently on Events, Activities and Courses. We'd like it to be the same and clarify whether no feedback is collected or whether its being collected via salesforce/other (usually a link to survey gizmo).

  18. Clarify rolling enrollment confirmation emails ~SFOnly

    Right now the email shows only the start date of the first course lecture/field trip which is confusing. Make it so both start and end dates show AND it states that it is rolling enrollment and the individual course dates will be shown in separate activity email

  20. Need to add links to Branch websites under the "Branches and Committees" page of the main Mountaineers.org website

    Some of the branches, like the Olympia branch, have stand alone websites that provide much more information on their officers, committees, and activities than the main mountaineers.org website. It would be beneficial to all to clearly link the individual branch webpages to their respective branch pages under the "Branches and Committees" page of the Mountaineers.org site.
    I wasted a ton of time trying to find detailed info about the Olympia Branch on the Mountaineers.org site only to give up. I was finally told about the olympiamountaineers.org site and voila, there was all of the info I needed. A direct link…

    We added branch home page and committee page features in July 2015. Since then our branches and committees have been moving content form their own websites to mountaineers.org. Most branches and committees have completed this. Our Olympia Branch is in the midst of this content migration and will be done soon.
