Add an additional search button to Routes & Places webpage
I am impressed by the many improvements have been made to the Routes & Places webpage over the years!
I am with the Seattle Backpacking Committee, and I am trying to add locations to the database. The first step is to see what locations are already in the database, and this has led me to have some experience with this webpage.
One of the locations I am interested in is Klapatche Park at Mt. Rainier National Park. There is a backpacking location of "Emerald Ridge, Klapatche Park & Gobbler's Knob" in the database, and you can find it if pretty easily in the "map" representation of the data. In the "list" representation, you might not find Klapatche Park because the locations are ordered alphabetically, and there are 305 backpacking places in the database.
I am wondering if a search button could be added to "list" and "map" buttons on this webpage. It would have the same functionality as the "search" in the left sidebar, but grouping it with the "list" and "map" buttons would make it easier to find. Even better would be if the search would look at only the "backpacking" subset of the database.
Thank you!

Hello Tod -
Thank you for reaching out with your idea. I wanted to first follow up with you about your experience as some of the things you mentioned should be possible today! Here are a few notes:
- The filters on the left hands side can be used in combination (AND) to filter results. That said, you can select "Backpacking" AND type something into the Search Box to find only Backpacking results that contain those key words.
- The filtering process will work on both List and Map views. So, if you filter to "Backpacking" and search the term "Klapatche" then in the map view you will only see backpacking routes with that name included.
- The search bar also will consider wildcards (*). So if you searched something like "Klap*" it will search any work that has KLAP in it, such as Klapatche .
Given what is stated above, does this meet the needs you were looking for? Or is there an additional need that is still missing?
Best,
Devin Lampe
