Remember me on login
I frequently need to login to the mountaineers website, sometimes multiple times per day which is a bit annoying. It would be great to have a remember me checkbox to persist the login.
It appears this was a feature until 2023 https://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/15859615-remember-me-function-on-log-in-page-is-broken-gh20
And a 2024 post was declined without reasoning https://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/47641436-keep-me-logged-in
It would be great if an explanation could be given on why this isn't possible, or options for how some login persisting could be supported.

Thank you for reaching out! I am happy to provide the historical context that I found and a proposal for next steps. The "logged in" feature was a built-in feature of the platform our website is built on. When we upgraded our platform late 2023/early 2024 it was removed because the latest version of the platform no longer stored these credentials for security reasons. The ticket that was closed, mentioned a session being active for a period of time, but I believe that only works if the window/tab is not closed. That idea was closed by me in July as part of a clean-up process and I appreciate that the lack of description as to why it was closed was missing. I have worked to provide more details to members since then when closing/completing ideas.
As for next steps, I have a monthly meeting with our external…

Notifications based on saved searches
The current method of defining notifications is basic and, simply put, inflexible. It is possible to get notifications based on varies high level criteria (e.g. branch, activity type) but that doesn't mean that the notifications will be meaningful since there are many criteria that can be filtered on in the activity search. It should be possible to create search criteria and save those such that you're notified any activity that matches that criteria. This would save people time by since they won't need to manually filter the activities in the notifications based on this additional criteria.
This would supercede https://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/49808195-alerts-notifications-preferences-for-audience…

Alerts & Notifications Preferences for "Audience" Field
Members are able to setup alerts and notifications based on activity type (e.g. "day hiking"), branch, etc. It should be possible to configure notifications based on the audience (e.g. "adults", "20-30 somethings", etc.). This would allow for members to include notifications only for audiences they're interested in.

Support markdown for formatting all input
The website currently uses a rich text to format all content on the website. This can be convenient for some but it can be frustrating and slow to work with. Markdown is easy to write and understand (https://www.markdownguide.org/). It has become a common option on many websites. Please consider supporting markdown as an option and let users specify it as their default preference so that they can use it without having to select it each time they want to post an activity/comment/etc.

Display discounted pricing for Books/Activities
Right now, if you change the price of a book or activity for a "sale", there is no way to distinguish that new sale price for the past regular price. The ask is to create a way to clearly call out discounted prices.

Add Address Verification Service
What: Consider adding an address checker to the website to help manage number of bad addresses (incorrect unit, missing zip code, etc). This tool could help us verify/correct postal addresses.
Why: Potentially important for decreasing amount of mail that is marked undeliverable and returned to the PC4 votesThis idea is moving to priority as we plan on testing out a new way to manage addresses within Salesforce to hopefully clean up addresses.

Phone Number Validation
I noticed in one of my activities that a member put their e-mail in the phone number field. This should not be allowed. Phone numbers should require validation to ensure that they satisfy the expected format.

Please note, we will not be able to do as thorough validation on the emergency phone number as we are changing the intended use of that field to contain multiple phone numbers so users can easily provide multiple emergency contacts.
