Phone Hyperlink
Taking a phone call today from a member, they were frustrated that a when they viewed a phone number on mountaineers.org from their phone browser, they were not able to click on it and have it automatically call. They see this feature on other websites and would like to submit it for improvement for ours.

Hello Bri - I am working through the UV tickets as part of our updated UV status/pipeline process and wanted to let you know that I am closing this ticket due to the lack of additional votes and the updates to smart phones that should solve this issue. Now on phones, if the number is not already a clickable link, you can hold down on the number and then the phone will provide multiple options including to call the number or to copy and paste it into their preferred app for calling. Thanks, Bri! Just curious, since you have an iPhone. Assuming you can add the Chrome and Firefox browsers to your iPhone, can you test the clickable phone functionality in those mobile browsers?

Thanks Jeff, I mentioned these things to that donor at the time. This particular donor uses apple, and I just checked on iphone and the phone numbers are not recognized this way. :( I was on the "contact" us page from the footer. Same with the donate page "need help?"

Thanks for the suggestion. This works on my phone, an Android using the Google Chrome and Firefox browsers. See the attached image. "Clicking" the phone number opened the call dialog. Typically phones recognize phone numbers and open call dialogs lie they do for addresses and opening a map app. Nothing special is needed
For desktop systems, an app that can make phone calls, a hosted/cloud-based phone system or a PC connection to a mobile phone, is needed typically along with a browser plug-in or extension.
If this is not working for you, please let us know the the link to the page with the phone number and the mobile device and browser you are using. It could be that we have some incorrectly/poorly formatted phone numbers on our website.
