Show past activities on a route
When looking at a route, you can see future activities as well as trip reports. I'd like to see a list of past activities, along with their completion status and leader name (whether they posted a trip report or not).
This would make it easier to contact past trip leaders to ask them about conditions, etc. as well as to get a sense of when people typically use the route.
Thanks!

Thank you for clarifying the purpose for this idea and how the "solution" I provided is not a substitute for the ask. I can keep this idea open, but want to set the right expectations as it is unlikely that this idea will be prioritized given 1) the information is available, just takes more steps and 2) the solution would require further development that would be more than what is in place for Activities tab today. For example, the past activities tab would have needed additional filtering or pagination as there could be some routes with few past activities so we would not want to have a time cutoff, but others that have a ton of past activities but we would not want to limit it as a leader may be looking for a particular season for past activities. Adding additional functionality to this page may also impact load times of the page which for some power users is already quite long. All that said, I can keep it open if you would like, but want to ensure that I provide clarity and transparency on our priorities.

It seems that my replies to Dennis are not showing up publicly so I want to repost them here:

Great question! The difference between "Find Activities" and "Find All Volunteer Activities" is that it contains all activity types that are happening within The Mountaineers (Trips, Field Trips, Lectures, Seminars, etc.) - not just "Trip" activities. As mentioned in this new landing page outlining the various volunteer activity search pages:
All ACTIVITIES
Includes all instructor, leader, and participant activities.
Helpful page if open to volunteering or generally participating.
View into all activities happening within the club - helpful for scheduling.Using this search page could provide more results than Find Activities as it pulls in Field Trips from Courses. For example - when searching "Mary's Peak" in Find Activities I get one search for 2024 where in Find All Volunteer Activities I get three.
My Activities Search - https://www.mountaineers.org/activities/activities#b_start=0&c2=%22Mary's+Peak%22&c6=2024-01-01&c6=2025-04-30
Find All Volunteer Activities Search - https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteer/volunteer-with-us/find-all-volunteer-activities#b_start=0&c2=%22-+Mary's+Peak%22&c6=2024-01-01&c6=2025-04-30
To improve accuracy on the route search, I recommend adding quotations around the route search term and using the entire route. Example - "Mary's Peak" vs. Mary's.

Thanks - in that case, can we leave this request open? Its intention was specifically to be able to look up a Route and then see from the Route page if there were previous trips there, without having to do a separate Activity search.

Thanks for reaching out Devin!
I definitely appreciate the limited ability to do new development. I wasn't quite sure what is changed in the new mechanism though? I believe we have always been able to do activity queries for past dates, e.g. https://www.mountaineers.org/activities/activities#b_start=0&c2=eldorado&c6=2021-04-01&c6=2025-04-29The request was more to be able to get these past activities more easily (and actually filtered to that particular route - in the example above, I searched for "Eldorado" and got many different "Eldorado" activities, on different routes).
Thanks!

We do have trip reports attached to Routes & Places. Trip reports may be added from activities attached to them as well as standalone reports that anyone with an account on our website may add directly from the route/place.
We do encourage everyone to add trip reports in the feedback email requests we send at the end of every activity.
When we set up an email reminder for leader to close activities, we'll be sure that a request to add a trip report is included.
