Have the route/place default view as if the "map" tab had been clicked
When pulling up a route/place, there isn't much showing until you click on the "map" blue tab. Why not have that as default?
1 voteWe set this so the default tab for leaders is “Activities” and for everyone else it it “Map.”

Roster screen: Student status and sorting
On the roster screens for activities and courses display names in last name, firstname MI format (also when searching to add people). Put a set of checkboxes on the main roster screens to let leaders update status without needing to drill down to the edit screen for eaxch student.
1 voteOn course rosters you can now change the position and student expiration date for multiple participants.

Feedback items should have id numbers
When a feedback item or idea has been submitted display its id number for reference
1 voteI just did some investigating and it doesn’t look like there is a way to see those for easy reference but they are listed in the url if you click on the item. ie this idea is in the forum 273688 and has a unique reference number 6803077

Sea Kayak specific route template
As part of the noted December reworking of route templates, a distinct template for Sea Kayak activities should be developed. Among the changes that should be made would be recognition that multiple launch sites might serve a given water body so the land manager will vary. The entry for land subdivision is usually meaningless and should be omitted. Parking permit requirements again depend on the launch site and so might be moved to the sea kayak activity template. Maximum party size might also be relocated to the activity template. National Forest District is not needed. The GPS maps are problematic.…
1 voteWe’ve made improvements to the routes and places to add defaults each required field, made revisions to space capacity, and made it so everything is not required. Leaders will soon be able to edit the default to their route/places to change difficulty, distance, etc. We also added some sea kayaking-specific field to activities that should help. Due to the functionality of the Plone website package, we cannot make different requirements for specific types of routes/places.

Add Review button for Editing
This is the only web-edit tool I can think of that doesn't have a REVIEW
option. Unless I'm missing something, I can only SAVE or CANCEL from EDIT
mode. The requires many edits - and the system has been sluggish this afternoon.
Please add "REVIEW" to the wish list. :-)1 voteGreg,
The web system we chose for mountaineers.org is a modern content management system which uses the different statuses of private, pending review and published. The private setting is similar to a review button where you can review what you just made but it isn’t available as published material to the public.Sites can be sluggish or fast for a wide variety of reasons but please let us know if there is a specific action you are regularly doing on the website that is consistently taking a long time.

Make Events easier to find
Events should be listed next to LEARN EXPLORE AND CONSERVE on the main homepage.
1 voteEvents can be found in the header on every single page of the website. The upcoming events are featured in a calendar box in the middle left of the homepage as well. We are working on improved functionality for events, including the ability to RSVP and see the events your are registered for, however we do not plan to add an additional menu item to the main navigation for events.

Increase search functionality for routes-places
If it is necessary for us to avoid posting multiple routes-places and activities to the same trail, it would be very helpful to have the ability for users to enter a flexible set of 'tags' with the range of place names along the planned route that can be searched for to find other routes-places or activities going to the same place but named something different.
1 voteLots of great updates have been made to routes/places which allow greater flexibility have been made.
Read more here
http://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/6756014-allow-us-to-list-multiple-routes-places-for-differWe are also working with leaders to make sure that everyone understands that search uses the titles and summary statements so making sure that any alternative names for a route/place are in the summary.
And of course if you see a route/place that needs to have a name changed or added just email info@mountaineers.org

Improve Incident Reporting GH824
Incident reporting appears as just an embedded email link in the trip report
when a leader closes an activity. Its output are the emails that appear
from those trip leaders sending the email. That makes it harder for the
Safety Officer to identify and group them in mail. Basic metadata like
which branch this pertains to is not appended in the body. That makes it
hard to determine who is accountable for follow up. It would be really nice
if we could re-institute a form that writes to the DB and generates an email
FROM a single incident reporting address…1 voteCompleted Nov 2014.

Web forms and surveys integrated into the website GH1674
It would be great to have web forms available to leaders so we can create course applications, branch surveys, run branch elections, etc directly on the website using the member's login

Allow seminars to be displayed on the home page with events
Right now, even if you add the Home Page tag to a seminar it still doesn't show up on the Home Page when upcoming activities are shown. This has meant that I have to create a duplicate of the seminar as an event to get it to show up. This is a lot of extra work. Can we please be allowed to add the Home Page tag to seminars and have them come up on the Home Page?

Org-wide Award Badges
We'd like to explore options for giving committee members the ability to self-administer org-wide award badges. Currently the only volunteers who directly manage badge rosters are branch admins for their award badges. That said, we have some award badges that are org-wide and we'll have to think about how we might allow a group of volunteers to manage that.
Example is the Climb Leader Emeritus badge: https://www.mountaineers.org/membership/badges/leader-badges/climb-leader-emeritus

Feedback Load Speed Issues for Committee Admins GH3610
When the committee admins use the "View Committee Feedback” button, but when they click it, it is often slow to respond or returns a timeout error.
0 votesCompleted · AdminJeff Bowman (Associate Director of Information Technology, The Mountaineers) respondedCompleted Nov 2021.
The biggest issue here was the amount of feedback to aggregate. We defaulted to “Lifetime” which is all the data. Here is what we fixed and how we recommend using committee/leader feedback:
- Set the default to the “Last 12 Months” filter so it loads albeit a little slowly.
- Moved the "Lifetime" filter to the bottom. Be sure to only use it in combination with either a leader filter or a course template filter. Those are typically small enough data sets to not cause a timeout.
- Replaced the date filter widgets with the more modern version, and one that actually works.
It’s lot of work to improve the load time for “Lifetime” and we need to upgrade the forms we use for feedback, so we’ll tackle this later with the upgrade.

Give activity co-leaders automatic permisson to see rosters
Currently it is apparently necessary for a co-leader to be made an activity admin or a committee admin in order to see the roster for that activity, adding another step for the primary leader. Can we not remove extra keystrokes here for our busy volunteers? If we make someone a co-leader we trust them to do everything we would do as a leader.
0 votesLow Priority · AdminJeff Bowman (Associate Director of Information Technology, The Mountaineers) respondedFirst, anyone who is to be a co-leader should already be on a committee roster (any committee roster as a leader) whcih means they could easily be the Primary Leader. Why would this ever not be the case?
Second, anyone on a roster may view and mange the “team roster,” the one that that is accessed from the "Manage Activity " portlet or “Roster” in the Admin Panel, if the “Admins” box in their activity roster record is checked.
So the only added step for adding a co-leader to an activity roster is to check the “Admins” box. This is the first field after looking up the person being added and has help text explaining why this box might be checked. Checking a box, one click, does not seem overly burdensome, especially in light of the many other needs and desires for our website.
