Provide easy way to email participants based on their role
For large course field trips it is common for instructors and students to show up at different times, which means that instructors will usually carpool with other instructors, and students with other students. To set up those carpools it would be helpful if the "Email Participants" screen had a way to quickly select participants based on their role, i.e. all instructors, all students, all leaders. Yes, it's currently possible to use the per-person check boxes to this now, but some large field trips (Navigation, Snowshoe, Scramble) can have as many as 90 participants, so selecting them individually is tedious and…

For events, be able to RSVP as a volunteer
For events, make it possible for people to sign up as a volunteer. Currently, people who RSVP to an event are labeled participants by default. But on the roster, there are 3 roles people can have: event contact, volunteer, or participant. Whoever is managing the roster can re-label people as volunteers, but it would be nice if people could initially RSVP themselves as a volunteer. This would also serve as a recruitment tool for events that need extra volunteers. But maybe this could be a feature that you could turn on or off by adding separate lines in the event…
1 voteWe have the ability to set events up to default registrants to be listed as volunteers. This works really well for committee meetings and instructor trainings. When you are creating the event simply go to the RSVP tab and hit the default role for RSVP to be volunteer, it will default to participant. If you use the participant default you can set up a “Want to Volunteer” button on your event that can be set up to email you. There was concern that volunteering for an event requires some back and forth about roles and responsibilities so emailing the leader was helpful.

Add a skill to volunteer profile
Under Volunteer Profile, add a box for "Conflict resolution, mediation, or legal help" to recruit volunteers that can serve as neutral mediators in a conflict or a complaint situation.
1 voteWe now have a Attorney/Legal skill option AND a Mediation/Conflict Resolution skill listed in the Volunteer Profile

Transportation and membership
My idea would be be able to full enjoy the Mountaineers without a car. It seems very difficult to do so, hikes in particular. Make it easier to delete our account and membership if needed. Great customer service.

With window reduced, 'Learn' is not visible
When you reduce the size of your window the LEARN menu and the left quarter of the screen disappears. Scroll bar appears fully left but missing key navigation features on the site.
1 voteWe launched the website mobile responsive theme on Oct 4 and this was fixed as part of that effort.

Roster change emails
When a leader gets an email notification about a participant change on their roster, it would be great if when the leader hits 'reply', the email would be redirected to that participant and not toinfo@mountaineers.org
I'm finding that even with I'm signed in to the website in one window, when I click on the hyperlinked participant name in the email, another window opens and the website wants me to sign in again, which creates to many steps.1 voteHi Stevie,
Looks like we can’t get the reply to work like that since these notifications come from salesforce rather than plone which is how bulk roster emails from the site work.
However, it is possible for us to add a live link to the person’s email in the body of the notification for easy emailing in the notification so that has been added. You should see this live on any future roster change notifications.

it would be wonderful to easily order maps online
order USGS/Green Trails maps online
1 voteWe are now the sole distributor for Green Trails maps and sell them on our website: https://www.mountaineers.org/books/books#b_start=0&c11=Green+Trails+Maps.
We do sell other map titles. All maps can be found at https://www.mountaineers.org/books/books#b_start=0&c5=Map.
USGS map sales have declined to near zero in recent years, so there is little need to sell the on our website.

Add Header Messaging Capability SD517
We added a home page pop-up a while ago for getting important communications out to members and guests.
This would be rich text that appear in a box/stripe that appears just below the header (and above the admin panel if it is visible) so that we can present members and guests with a less obtrusive way to highlight things that we thing are really important. Also allow members and guests to close this message until it is refreshed (changed entirely or edited).

Set up a Search for Badges to Make Them Easier to Find GH1881
Set up a faceted search in the Badges area, https://www.mountaineers.org/membership/badges, so that badges are searchable and easier to find.

Create a "Do Not Send Automatic Confirmation Email" checkbox to activities or activity templates GH2002
In some cases like summer camp field trips and/or required lectures for courses, its confusing or annoying to members to receive confirmation emails. We would like to be able to turn off this functionality in certain cases like this.

Larger profile pictures
Our community is stronger when we connect with one another and when other members can learn more about you. So while we’re at it, how about allowing larger views of members’ profile photos? I was delighted when the member profile feature was added to the web site, enabling me to see who I’m going on a trip with; but what’s with the microscopic space allotted to the profile photo? I have a 34-inch monitor, yet members’ photos show up in a tiny 2-inch circle and I have to peer closely at the screen to make out any facial features. The…

"Post a new idea..." confusion
I found the "Post a new idea..." link on this page (on the right, under "General Feedback") to be confusing. I expect a link to take me to a new page, but actually it was a no-op. I would suggest just eliminate that link.

Include full names in email address lists
When I get the list of email addresses for my activity, I would prefer to have the list include everyone's full name. For example, instead of
person@gmail.com, person2@hotmail.com
I would prefer to see
"first last" person@gmail.com, "first2 last2" person2@hotmail.com
Then I would have human-friendly names in my emails.1 vote -
Add More White Space Between Events on Calendar View GH1992
Add a bit more white space between events on the calendar view so that they do not appear mushed together as they do in some cases.
Here's an example for August 2016 on https://www.mountaineers.org/about/locations-reservations/seattle-program-center/events

Map of phone numbers to call for back country rescue
How about posting a map showing which number should be called in case an emergency rescue is needed in any given area in the Washington Cascades (or Olympics)? Maybe it already exists, but I couldn't find it. Ideally, the map would clearly delineate the boundaries between rescue jurisdictions.
1 voteAs Jeff mentioned in the comments below, calling 911 is the very first thing that should be done in an emergency situation. Read more about our Emergency Contact Procedures here: https://www.mountaineers.org/about/safety/emergency-contact-procedures/view.
Although there are some general jurisdictions for SAR teams they do work with eachother and the Navy, different county Sheriff’s office etc to see what resources are available most quickly. Most of the time the most useful information is to know whether you are in a National Park or if you aren’t in a National Park which county you are in along with the trailhead where you entered. Washington Department of Transportation has some good maps online to help identify which county you are in before heading out. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/mapsdata/products/digitalmapsdata.htm
The next step after 911 is calling the Mountaineers specific emergency line 206-521-6030 and the folks on that line will additionally help triage the situation.

Add GPS Coordinates to the Ballon Labels on Maps GH1968
On maps, add the GPS coordinates to the "bubble" that is displayed when a user clicks on a map's balloon (e.g. 46.8719090087, -121.51538770799999).

Reply to doesn't work on all email from mountaineers.org
Replying to emails written from leaders through mountaineers.org are not working for Windows 10 mail. Obviously Mountaineers can't control Windows but it might make sense to switch to participants being cc'd on organizing or the leader being cc'd so members don't send Member Services trip logistical emails.
1 voteThanks for providing feedback. Unfortunately we can’t fix Windows 10 mail but it does work for other mail programs. We also have an option for leaders to capture roster emails and easily copy and paste them into their email in the cc’ field if a leader does have Windows 10 or wants to help facilitate carpooling.

Create @mountaineers.org email address for committees
Currently a number of committees have created Gmail addresses, which are shared between chairs, course leaders, etc. It seems like there should be @mountaineers.org addresses for this
1 voteUnfortunately we do not have the resources to manage and support the number of email addresses this would require. Management includes initial setup, support desk for access issues, and volunteer turnover.

Auto-populate branch council rosters with all chairs of branch activity committees
There are some times when a branch council roster isn't updated after a new chair comes on to an activity committee. If this wasn't a difficult or expensive feature, it would alleviate one bit of data entry for branch council's AND help prevent other committees from missing communications from the councils.

Online outdoor resume
I think that breaking down the various skills our courses teach is important and reiterate my support for "skill badges" that is already an idea in this system. However, I see benefit in creating a template that is populated with the skills a member has earned that takes the form of an outdoor resume people could download and modify. This could promote our efforts to make the burgeoning multi-billion-dollar outdoor industry accessible to the youth we serve (as well as help our members who are sick and tired of their current jobs and would love to make a career transition).…
