This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any idea and will be notified of its status changes. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization.

We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation, and how it could benefit The Mountaineers. Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have forms for you to give feedback when you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback.   2. Salesforce opportunity acknowlegment automation GH2885 ~Salesforce

    I was dreaming about how to improve tracking donor communications and acknowledgements and came up with an idea.

    From a salesforce opportunity I would love to have the option to initiate acknowledgment and thank you communications directly from Salesforce. They come in two forms:

    1. Generating a thank you email to the donor directly from salesforce based off of a selected template (selected based on gift) with the ability to customize before sending.   3. Create online credit card intake form for credit cards for all rental clients

    Hey Jeff,

    I'm putting this here to request we make an online form that will allow our rental clients to submit credit card information and to authorize we charge their card for rental deposits and final payments. This eventually needs to be a broader conversation with Gabriella and Barbara because they actual do the charging and I collect the information.

    Benefits:
    - Reduced time in playing phone tag with clients.

    • Better experience with clients and faster turn-around time between inquery/booking/deposit/final payment

    Garrett: For security reasons, we cannot store credit card information on our local computers, local servers, or our website. This is why we have the “Organization & Online Invoicing” project, http://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/17914396-organizations-online-invoicing-sd562.

    We can do it on paper, but even that is a “no no” as far as credit card security is concerned. Paper is somewhat acceptable, because the credit card information may be redacted or the paper destroyed.

    I just talked to Barbara and there is a possibility of using Acumatica for invoicing until we get the website project done. It’s not exactly what you requested, but it should help quite a bit.

  4. Exception for seniors.

    Exception for seniors.
    Reference: BAKER’S DOZEN Offered by the Bellingham Branch, asks that you climb no more than 5 peaks per year to achieve this, but since I will be just short of 65 next year when I attempt it, I was wondering if an exception might be made for seniors, since we may not live long enough for multi-year attempts.

  6. Add Clustering to Map Search GH2793

  7. Add back grey line text divider line in rich text fields GH2427

    Previously you could add a gray line to break up your text in blogs and other text heavy fields. Ever since we launched the new text editor that <hr> HTML tag has disappeared - bring it back!

  8. Branch admins should be able to schedule an activity for any of their committee's leaders SD643

    NOTES:

    This is important for people who want to help with admin on the website but don't want to be on every single committee roster when they aren't actually doing much work regularly for that committee.

    Needs to work for scheduling, trips, clinics & seminars, and course activities.

  9. Selecting from the Dropdown

    When you select from the search/suggestions box ("You May Also Like" section, for instance), it jumps around and makes it hard to select with precision.

    For example, as admin when I try to create a discount code and I need to add multiple items with the keyword "mountain", it is next to impossible to scroll and pick a tile that is in-between transitions.

    Another example is "Recommended Reading" on many of our content types.

  10. Clean up the Safety Concern section of the Participant Survey form GH2731

    This request is two part

    1.) Modify the label and description of the Y/N Safety Concern question

    Label: "Were there any safety incidents or other concerns to report?"

    Description: [NO CHANGE]

    2.) Add a text field to the Participant Survey to describe their safety concern.

    Label: "Please describe your concern"

    Description: "Provide a short description of your safety concern"

  13. Clarify rolling enrollment confirmation emails ~SFOnly

    Right now the email shows only the start date of the first course lecture/field trip which is confusing. Make it so both start and end dates show AND it states that it is rolling enrollment and the individual course dates will be shown in separate activity email

  15. Create "Trip Reporter" Badge ~WebsiteContent

    What if we created a “Trip Reporter” badge (or some such name) to award to folks who leave 5+ trip reports a year? This would encourage more people to leave trip reports, and help with our goals to gamify membership engagement.

  16. Need to add links to Branch websites under the "Branches and Committees" page of the main Mountaineers.org website

    Some of the branches, like the Olympia branch, have stand alone websites that provide much more information on their officers, committees, and activities than the main mountaineers.org website. It would be beneficial to all to clearly link the individual branch webpages to their respective branch pages under the "Branches and Committees" page of the Mountaineers.org site.
    I wasted a ton of time trying to find detailed info about the Olympia Branch on the Mountaineers.org site only to give up. I was finally told about the olympiamountaineers.org site and voila, there was all of the info I needed. A direct link…

    We added branch home page and committee page features in July 2015. Since then our branches and committees have been moving content form their own websites to mountaineers.org. Most branches and committees have completed this. Our Olympia Branch is in the midst of this content migration and will be done soon.

  17. When adding a reservation to SPC calendar, add an "ability to open/close SPC" checkbox GHPR2742

    Facility and Volunteers don't have a clear system for ensuring there is a person on site who can open and close the facility. Under the current system, staff must manually follow-up with each leader or make assumptions about event overlaps and if there is going to be someone that can open/close the facility.

    I'd like to see a required checkbox on the add event page that asks:

    "Will there be someone that is familiar and able to open and close the program center during this event?" If no, or unsure, please contact the facility staff at spc@mountaineers.org"

  19. Change map when destination is changed GH2018

    When a trip leader changes the destination [route/place] for an existing trip [activity], the map coordinates [GPS Start and End points] don't change. They should probably change to the new destination [route/place].

    [I think we also missed high point when adding and editing an activity. We should add that too when we do this.]

  20. Fix time entry so that entering 12:00 AM (midnight) works GH2602

    Currently when we enter 12:00 AM in a datetime field, it is converted to 12:00 PM when saved. Note that entering 00:00 AM works, so this is the workaround.
