Identify activities, courses, and events restricted to a SIG/Branch
Let climb leads be able to hide climbs from the public until they are done getting members from their SIG or branch.
As a basic student its time consuming to see climbs just to sign up or email the climb leader and find out its only for a specific group of people and that I can't be on the climb.
This task is being marked as completed with the launch of our new activity field, Non-Priority Registration Date. This will help manage trips with priority registration periods.
What is it?
If an activity has a priority group that registers first (e.g., “Priority registration for backpacking students until July 3”), leaders will set the Non-Priority Registration Date to the date when registration opens to everyone (in this example, July 3).
Why does it matter?
- This date ensures that trips are correctly filtered for members who qualify.
- Activities outside the priority period will automatically show the “All Who Qualify” audience tag.
How it works:
- If the field is empty, the system will add the “All Who Qualify” audience tag when the activity is created. This is how users will be able to filter trips in the activity search under "Audiences" that are not in a priority registration period.
- If leaders set a date, the tag will appear when that date arrives.
More information about this new feature will be delivered to committee via Basecamp and through Leader Lines next month. To stay up to date on all tech changes, check out our Technology Changelog!

Adding a search filter like "hide activities with priority registration" or "hide leader permission required" similar to the "open for registration" filter would give members more agency and flexibility to declutter their search results and could be toggled on and off.

Seconding Jacob's point - it's frustrating when I search for events to find that the majority that aren't otherwise unavailable to me are reserved for someone's SIG. This contributes to a perception that the Mountaineers are cliquish. I'm also unsure what a SIG is.
