Generate iCal calendar for any course activities, regardless of participation status
I often have to manually transcribe the multiple events from a course into my personal google calendar. This is error prone and time consuming, and I bet most people do this.
It would be awesome if the "course requirements" section of a course page that shows all the events would also contain a link to the iCal of that course so I can add all the events to my personal google calendar with a single click.
This would be useful to do with any course, not just the ones I am signed up with:
- for the courses I want to instruct at, it would be helpful to put all the course events in my personal google calendar even if I myself am not part of the class
- if I am not yet accepted into a course, I would still want to see all its events in my google calendar to make sure I don't overbook those dates.
Hello All -
This idea is changing to "In Progress" as we have made progress towards adding more calendar options! I want to note that the final solution we are implementing differs from the original request as there is no singular course "activity" download customized to a particular person - but all course activities (and regular activities) now have iCal and Google Calendar links shown on their landing page. This will allow someone to add this activity to their calendar regardless of their participation status.
Our next step is to include these easy calendar links to our registration emails. Once that is done we will mark this task as complete.

That's great to hear! I would like to keep the request of an ical feed alive though, as that will stay up-to-date as event descriptions change. For example, if a leader adds more details on a meeting area in the lead up to an event, its ideal if that is automatically synced into my calendar (which an ical feed would accomplish).
Thanks!

When you receive an email for an activity or a course that you have signed up for, have an "add to calendar" link in the email
