Members and guests can now access their branch page from the My Branch link in their profile menu in the upper right side of the header of every page on our website. Now everyone the same quick access to their branch info as they do to their profile, activities and courses.

Please be sure that content on your branch pages, including blog posts and events, are up-to-date, because we anticipate this will drive higher traffic to your pages.

  3. Make separate feedback form for instructors at field trips GH1865

Feedback form is identical for both participants and instructors at a field trip - the questions should be tailored differently.

We had a separate instructor feedback form for course listings only and now we have a separate form for instructors at field trips rather than the same form as participants.

We are now gathering info about whether leaders felt prepared for their role in addition to the regular safety and curriculum feedback info.

  4. Fully integrated Roster Management for Courses with multiple activities, and sections to complete to graduate.

Currently for a Course with multiple required activities one must download multiple CSV files and have the skill to basically develop a one time database and queries to track all students and who has completed what.

It would seem like the software provide would have reporting capabilities and modules that could be user facing to avoid this by using the source database.

We already have the desired functionality. There are “Review” links to everyone’s name on the course roster. Visit https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteers/leader-resources/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar#manage-rosters to learn more.

If there is concern about all students registering for required field trips, be sure that all course activities are listed and open for registration when the course opens for registration. This way participants are prompted to choose activities when they register before getting to the checkout page.

  5. Submitting feedback should be a two step process GH2757/2758/3608

When submitting feedback for an event there should be a two-step process - after entering the information and clicking a button - but before submitting for good - a "view" page should show how the feedback will eventually appear, warn the user that once submitted the feedback can't be changed, and allow the user to go back and edit some more. This is pretty standard for feedback and survey forms.

  6. Add Title Choices to Routes & Places for Use with Activities GH1476

To make it easier to better title activities where the route place has broadly varying options and alternatives, provide a list of alternate location names that may be used.

Specifically, when scheduling an activity allow the leader to choose an alternate title from an "Alternate Route/Place Title" list that is populated from a route/place "Route/Place Titles for Activity Titles" list.

    Here's an example:

For a scramble of "Silver, Tinkham & Abiel Peaks," https://www.mountaineers.org/explore/routes-places/silver-tinkham-abiel-peaks, the activity title currently is and by default after implementing this idea would be:

Alpine Scramble - Silver, Tinkham & Abiel Peaks

We now have the ability to have alternate titles for routes/places that have a couple different destinations but all use the same access and thus we wouldn’t want two different Mountaineers groups there on the same day.

An example is Snow & Gem Lakes. This trip can now simply be titled Gem Lake or Snow & Gem Lakes. Or if you are only climbing Tinkham and Silver Peaks you can now pick just those two peaks even though the listing has Silver, Abiel & Tinkham Peaks.

The ability to switch to an alternate title is in the Route/Place tab when you are in the activity edit form while scheduling or editing an activity. It’s the same place you’d edit the date or choose a new route/place for the activity.

Please note that this alternate title is not supposed to replace the summary. For example the title is not Gem Lake…

  7. Add Email Alerts & Notifications Preferences to My Profile SD508/599/600/601

This could be allowing people to request an email notification for an activity or course when it becomes available. It could include notifications to committee chairs when leaders list activities sponsored by that committee. Please describe below what you'd specifically like to see as far as email notifications go that would help you sign up for the activities you want or help you manage your committee etc.

April Leader Survey showed interest in:

    1. Ability to receive a calendar reminder when registration is opening for an activity

    2. Ability to receive a reminder notification about your trip this weekend

  8. Sort Courses and Activities by Date GH1837/1955

Contents view of a Course Template or Activities folder apparently returns items oldest-first. This requires scrolling to the bottom of the page to find the newest (and most likely of interest) items. Please change to sort sub-folders first, then courses or activities by newest first.

Note, if not fixed, this will become increasingly more inconvenient as history accumulates

The column headers in the “folder contents” view are now spaced correctly and you can sort (as you always have) by clicking on a column header. But the sort is only one direction ( e.g. A-Z) for now. The reverse sort now works as it should.

If you want to have a faceted search on any of your course template “Activities” folders, please send an email to info@mountaineers.org.

  9. Entering, Tracking and Reporting Volunteer Hours SD394++

    Some features needed:
    * Self-reporting volunteer hours (e.g. projects and committee meetings)
    * Add a My Volunteer Hours page (self-reported, activities, courses and events [and volunteer opportunities])
    * Printing volunteer hours for company matching
    * Salesforce volunteer hours reporting

  11. Track Leaders, Instructors and Members better on Committee Rosters including Automatically Assigning Leader Badges SD134/SD580

Right now you are added as a leader to a committee and Member Services gets an email notification that requires them to add the badge. Leader web rights however are instantly granted with the addition to the roster.

Expiration dates for each, automatic leader/instructor badge assignment/removal, roster removal if none remain. Add committee member checkbox. Bulk update tools for managing roles/expiration dates. Determine what an instructor really is.

  12. Feature Request - Expiring Badge Notification ~SFOnly

As a user I would like to be notified prior to my badge expiring so that I can arrange to meet requirements or arrange for an extension given that I have a badge that has an expiration date. The problem to avoid is people losing their privileges without notice and being unpleasantly surprised.

Then, when the expiration date is within 90 and 30 days from expiring:

    • A notification of what badge is about to expire and when will be sent to me (User) 90 days and 30 days prior to the expiration date.

    • A notification will be sent to the…

  13. Make Peak Pins and other awards more public and interactive on the website

Make Peak Pin and Paddle pins public on the website so members can see all of the neat awards their fellow members have completed and/or are working on. Plus we need to have good descriptions of the requirements for each of the awards.

We just completed editing and publishing the award badges that existed on our old website. They are at Membership > Badges, https://www.mountaineers.org/membership/badges/award-peak-pin-badges.

There are two for which we need badge images. We should have those by the end of March.

We’ll next work on adding badges; including content, images and roster; for our organization and branch service awards. We do not yet have this scheduled.

Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions or find anything that needs corrected.

Thanks to all you helped us get these done!

  14. Measure what we care about at the member, committee, and branch levels. SD317

There are a number of statistical and reporting needs and desires that many people spend a great deal of time trying to capture. I would like to see us develop metrics and create "dashboards" that automate this data collection and allow us to quickly identify trends in the data that help us plan for the most successful future. For example:

Branches and Committees often want to know (or would be interested in): # of Leaders, # of trips being posted, % of closed out trips, #of courses offered, # of students in courses, # of participants on trips sponsored by…

    Completed Final Part Jun 2018

The final piece we want to have available is aggregate committee leader feedback. This feedback allows committee admins to enter an activity or course start date and see all feedback for that outing in one place. It also allows committee admins to quickly see Leader feedback in one place.

We currently have monthly dashboards being sent to each branch with information about the number of trips, courses and membership information.

We also have the member services team pulling trip statistics and additional committee reporting via requests to info@mountaineers.org. We strive for a 48 business hour turnaround on these requests.

  15. In-Person Book Pick-up SD341

Create an online purchase option for shoppers to pick up a book at the Seattle Program Center, Tacoma Program Center or the location of a course lecture, field trip or seminar.

  16. Printer-friendly Roster Page with Contact Info for Leaders SD319

In preparing for an activity, leaders often want to bring a long a printout of their activity roster, including participant names, mobile phone, email, and emergency contact info. Currently we have to export this info to excel and spend time removing unnecessary columns and rows and doing a lot of formatting to produce this. Offer a printer-friendly page that formats this info (and leaves out the unnecessary info like cancelled registrations, etc.).

Live but need to add email address column and better phone number formatting. We’ll have that done soon.

  17. MailTo button on Rosters and other web email improvements GH1123

The email button on the roster page is pretty much useless because of the crippled form based email that is built in. Add another button with a MailTo link behind it that feeds the default email client with the list of selected email address in the header.

That's basically the same functionality we had under IMIS--it was robust, immensely useful, and the necessary programming is trivial.

  18. The doors are closed to most of us.

Publish lists of truly open events where organizers are not micromanaging who can attend. The list will be incredibly short. Others have commented on this and per usual someone with 'official authority' to do so deleted their thoughts and suggestions. This is absurd, rude, and asinine. The arrogance demonstrated is remarkable. The issue stands. There are painfully few outings available (particularly for Basic Climbing Grads) to participate in. This does not feel like a club at all, but a set of tight cliques that are energetically guarded.

    Hi Douglas,

You are not alone in your frustration about the limited number of climbs for basic grads. In fact I’d encourage you to read this thread and comment on it which discusses this same issue so you can better understand the climb leader’s perspective as well

    http://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/272594-leaders/suggestions/6939679-future-activity-sign-up-dates-modifying-registrat

I am closing this feedback item because we are trying to make sure their aren’t duplicates of the same item. The issue you brought up is incredibly important and was actually discussed recently by the managing committee.

The Managing Committee met on April 30, 2015 and decided to take no action on the issue right now. Central issues that contribute to these frustrations that they identified were a shortage of leaders and the various legitimate needs for pre-filling a roster that should not be disrupted. However, they decided that working on increasing the leader base and monitoring frustrations related to this issue…

  19. Remember Me Checkbox on login screen GH1051

Add "Remember Me" option so that my login persists until I deliberately logout. Or maybe increase the expiration timer to 24 hours or something like that. I just get tired of logging in 10 or 15 times a day. I'm not that concerned about the security risk--what's a hacker going to do...sign me up for a course?

  20. Improve Program Center Reservation Process GH1167/1168/1169/1175/1176/1177

Submitting a room reservation for the Seattle Program Center is incredibly time consuming and there is a lot of room for error. For example, the calendar does not show which room is reserved, so you have to click on each event so you can see if the room you want is available. If you're looking for a room in a future month (which is often the case), each time you go back to the calendar, it defaults to the current month, so you then have to scroll again to the date you're looking for and click on the next event…

Clicking on an item on a calendar opens a popup with info about the activity including a link to the full event details. This prevents you from losing your place in the calendar.
