This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization. We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum first before adding a new one. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly.   1. Printer-friendly Roster Page with Contact Info for Leaders SD319

    In preparing for an activity, leaders often want to bring a long a printout of their activity roster, including participant names, mobile phone, email, and emergency contact info. Currently we have to export this info to excel and spend time removing unnecessary columns and rows and doing a lot of formatting to produce this. Offer a printer-friendly page that formats this info (and leaves out the unnecessary info like cancelled registrations, etc.).

  2. MailTo button on Rosters and other web email improvements GH1123

    The email button on the roster page is pretty much useless because of the crippled form based email that is built in. Add another button with a MailTo link behind it that feeds the default email client with the list of selected email address in the header.

    That's basically the same functionality we had under IMIS--it was robust, immensely useful, and the necessary programming is trivial.

  3. Make field trip/lecture instructors push to course rosters SD381

    Right now we have a lot of instructors who are just added or sign up to a single field trip roster. Unfortunately because they aren't added to the course roster they aren't available for recruiting via our mega course template roster for future field trips/lectures that particular year or in future years.

    Also having the course show up in your My Courses & Programs is helpful for instructors who want a quick link to upcoming field trips for them to volunteer for. This is particularly important for the many day courses like basic, scrambling, sea kayaking etc.

  4. Prevent Leader/Instructor Badge Assignment GH2740

    When adding a person to a committee roster as a leader and/or an instructor, have two checkboxes--one for leaders and one for instructors--that prevent the leader and/or instructor badge from being assigned.

  5. Track Leaders, Instructors and Members better on Committee Rosters including Automatically Assigning Leader Badges SD134/SD580

    Right now you are added as a leader to a committee and Member Services gets an email notification that requires them to add the badge. Leader web rights however are instantly granted with the addition to the roster.

    Expiration dates for each, automatic leader/instructor badge assignment/removal, roster removal if none remain. Add committee member checkbox. Bulk update tools for managing roles/expiration dates. Determine what an instructor really is.

  6. View/download badges of all the people on a committee roster and add filters SD417

    Add filters to top of the page--admins, committee members, position, leaders, instructors, badges and lookup by name. Also includes instructor opt in/out checkbox (see http://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/34126369-volunteer-instructor-recruitment-request-opt-in).

    Add four badge columns to the download so you can see course badges, skill badges, leader badges and instructor badges. And maybe a fifth column that shows all other badges.

  7. Print Youth Program Forms SD647

    We'd like to print the Youth Program Form(s) as we do for the Youth information Form(s) from the Youth Flag Report.
    - We'd have two "print" buttons on the Youth Flag Report: "Print Youth Information Forms" and "Print Youth Program Forms"
    - We'd use the same "line in the sand" (i.e. ~~~) to include only text/responses above the line for the program form(s) being printed.

  8. Access to Badge Rosters SDtbd

    Provide access to badge rosters with means for admins to maintain them and correct inaccuracies. I know of no defensible reason to hide this information, especially from committees that need it to do their jobs.

    This would help with committee roster management bay making it easier to find inactive leaders.

  10. Set Leader/Instructor Badge Expiration to Yesterday GH2745

    When removing a leader and/or instructor from a committee roster, set their leader and/or instructor badge expiration date you yesterday's date.

  11. Bulk add participants to rosters

    It would be great to be able to add multiple people to a roster at one time instead of having to do a multi-step process for each person. This would be especially helpful for committees and youth programs who have recurring events with the same people. It would allow committees to easily add and then bulk update volunteers hours tracking.

    This suggestion applies to committee, activity and event rosters. This seems like it should be a-ok for committee rosters. It could be challenging for activity and event rosters where there are capacities and deciding how to handle that check and potential error, and partly because of the caveat that whatever roles and other details are chosen apply to all who are registered in this scenario. We may need to consider roster addition somewhat like the “add guest” we have for lodge stay reservations where the details for each person may be different.

  13. Committee roster updates based on activity level

    One of the things were trying to do right now is clean up the roster, lots of old info there. Any chance those can be self updating fields? For example the scramble standard says leaders have to do at least one trip every 2 years. Something similar could work for instructors too.

    Once we have implemented “View/download badges of all the people on a committee roster and add filters SD417/SD597” (this includes the “last activity led” feature) we’ll see it that is enough or if we want the more sophisticated automation described here.

  14. Activity Rosters should divide instructors and participants GH 1124

    Please divide rosters for participants and instructors for activities and course related activities in the same way that courses are set up. The sort by feature is less helpful than seeing the clear division.

  15. Multiple badges within a committee GH2933

    As more committees move towards multiple leader badges, it would be helpful for committees to be able to easily assign more than one badge to their leaders (For example: Basic Snowshoe Leader and Intermediate Snowshoe Leader).

    This would provide the ability for a committee to assign other specialty badges as well such as a "mentor" badge.

    Committees should be able to assign these badges to a new leader or when editing an existing leader, and it would be very helpful if they could do all of it from within their committee roster.

  16. Branch Council Roster Positions GH2746

    Please create positions specific to branch rosters:
    Branch Chair
    Branch Vice-chair
    Branch Co-chair
    Branch Secretary
    Branch Treasurer
    Branch Officer
    Member

    Note: "Member" is for branches whose committee chairs regularly attend branch council meetings but don't have a branch officer role (so its important we keep this) Thanks!

  17. Fully integrated Roster Management for Courses with multiple activities, and sections to complete to graduate.

    Currently for a Course with multiple required activities one must download multiple CSV files and have the skill to basically develop a one time database and queries to track all students and who has completed what.
    It would seem like the software provide would have reporting capabilities and modules that could be user facing to avoid this by using the source database.

    We already have the desired functionality. There are “Review” links to everyone’s name on the course roster. Visit https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteers/leader-resources/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar#manage-rosters to learn more.

    If there is concern about all students registering for required field trips, be sure that all course activities are listed and open for registration when the course opens for registration. This way participants are prompted to choose activities when they register before getting to the checkout page.

  18. Roster visibility change on the web site

    Some of us are wondering about a recent change on the web site. Activity rosters are no longer visible unless we're registered for that activity. Instead of displaying the roster, the web site now displays this text: " You must be registered for this activity to see the participants".

    This obviously enhances privacy for those members who wish it, but it also reduces visibility for those members who use the visibility to hang out together on Mountaineers activities.

    As you know, members already have the ability to mark their own profiles as private.

    I'm wondering if this privacy setting could…

  19. Co-leader and Mentored Leader Activity Roster Automation GH2494

    For adding to only (not editing) an activity team roster record, if the role is "Mentored leader" or "Co-leader," automatically check the "Admins" and "Show as contact" boxes.

  20. Offered Status Deadline - Transparent date/time (SF only)

    Add specific date/time in offer email for the five-day cut-off. It currently says "5 days" but participants often want a specific time as to when they will be moved off.

    This will help us better justify when a person is moved from the offered status and create more transparency in the process.
