This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization.   1. Lodge Rosters Role Improvements

    The Role column I assume is important for Meany since it takes a number of people to operate the facility. For Baker there are typically two or four hosts and the current generation of Baker hosts won't go to the effort of registering. Based on this I don't think Baker has much use for this column but I have no problem having it on the roster.

    The only available roles are Host, Volunteer and Participant. We should keep these if it would help guests checking in to know who’s in charge. We can expand them if it would help manage…

  3. Clarify the description of the "Assign Badges" function on the Roster page

    For Activities that award a badge, the Roster page contains a check box named "Assign Badges" whose description says "Check this box if this person should be granted the activity badges when the activity ends". The description is misleading because the badge is not granted until the activity is *closed*. In the lifecycle of an event, "Ended" and "Closed" are two different things: an activity is considered "ended" once its End Date is in the past.

    It looks like this may just be a simple typo in the checkbox description. If so, updating the text from "ended" to "closed" may…

  4. Search button on map edit disappeared with mobile launch GH2138

    Search button on maps when adding events is now just text, its hard to tell that you can actually do a search without the button look.

  5. Add a RENEW option to Join page

    A member recently suggested this to me and I completely love the idea. They thought that when you click “Join The Mountaineers”, one of the options should be “Renew”. Currently, there’s nothing on the page that indicates to people that if they are already a member they need to log in and go to their profile to renew. The Join page has a blank square that is practically begging for us to add a “renew” option, as demonstrated in the attached pic.

  6. Create @mountaineers.org email address for committees

    Currently a number of committees have created Gmail addresses, which are shared between chairs, course leaders, etc. It seems like there should be @mountaineers.org addresses for this

  9. Add to courses an "Instructor Capacity" to limit the number of instructors

    Courses currently have a "Student Capacity" to limit student enrollment but do not have an "Instructor Capacity" to limit instructor enrollment. This can create situations where too many instructors sign up, which in turn can create problems wherein too many instructors show up and have nothing to do, or can create create additional work for course leaders to reach out to instructors and ask them to cancel. Either way, it creates an awkward situation in an organization where we want to gratefully encourage as much volunteering as we can.

    The instructor slots for a course are designed to be a roll up of all instructors helping out with a course that has multiple field trips and lectures. I think it would be best to use our new single seminar and clinic functionality for activities like the backcountry snowshoeing skills instructor clinic. Listing as a clinic means you can designate the title to be whatever you want, have earned badges AND most importantly for you be able to designate how many instructor slots you want and participant slots.

  10. Better sort for event calendar contents view GH1837/1955

    When working on Events in Contents view, the oldest events (two years ago, as of now) sort to the top of the list. That means repeatedly paging to the end of the list to get to the Events of interest. Since, every time the page is refreshed, it starts over at the top of the list, the paging effort must be repeated over-and-over and is very time consuming.

    Please change the list to sort in descending date order. Or better yet: present and future dates in ascending order followed by past dates in descending order.

    The column headers in the “folder contents” view are now spaced correctly and you can sort (as you always have) by clicking on a column header for the forward sort. Click a second time for the reverse sort.

  11. Improve search for internal hyperlinks GH1662

    When hyperlinking within the site to an internal page or folder, the search engine appears to pull up anything that has your subject within the content, not just the title, making the search very slow. Also on the scroll bar, only the up arrow works. The down arrow does not work, so you need to drag the bar down, which is impossible to do slowly, so you have to drag the bar to below where you want to go, then use the up arrow to slowly get to where you're trying to go in the list.

  12. SHOW AUTOMATIC WARNING FOR AUTOMATIC FAILED PAYMENTS AND EXPIRING CREDIT CARD SD432

    Change the "about to be charged" message to a "your payment failed" message on the My Payments page when a scheduled payment fails (annual dues and/or monthly donation). Also show a red warning on the main My Profile page and the My Payments page if the credit card if it expires before one of the person's automatic payments is scheduled.

  13. HAVE STRIPE SPLIT PAYMENTS/DEPOSITS SD350

    Have Stripe split a credit card payment and distribute PC funds to its bank account while, at the same time, channeling payment for a book to the Books bank account.

  14. CANCEL/STATUS BUTTON FOR BOOK & MERCHANDSIE PURCHASES SD355

  15. Roster Management - Canceling after registration closes GH1782

    Currently if registration for an activity is closed and the leader cancels someone from the roster, the next person from the waitlist is automatically added to the roster. To avoid this the total capacity of the trip has to be reduced before canceling someone. This is annoying as a leader and confusing for the participants if done wrong. Once registration is closed, the roster should be fixed unless manually edited.

    Roster management is now manual after registration has closed. We will be sending out a notification in leader lines but please pass along to your fellow leaders.

  16. Add cancelation date range

    Issue:
    I'm a trip leader. A couple days before a trip I don't want anyone new signing up for planning/logistics reasons. The solution for that is to have signup close a couple days early. But then people signed up can't cancel from my trip without emailing me and having me do it (or the Program Center do it), which is a pain for me to do. Since someone can't be signed up for 2 trips at the same time, they might need me to cancel them ASAP so they can sign up for another trip, but I might not be…

    We definitely understand where this idea is coming from but at this point we must decline the idea for the following reasons. 1) We had many leaders from across the organization request manually roster manipulation after registration has closed and this is in contradiction to that widespread request. 2) We are concerned that this is too complicated for our members and leaders since Member Services already spends a decent amount of time explaining what registration open and close dates are and how they work and this idea makes the process a little harder to remember.

  17. ADD AUTOMATIC ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL PAYMENTS AND AUTOMATIC MONTHLY DONATIONS TO MY PURCHASES SD420

    If I have, show automatic annual membership renewal payments and automatic monthly donations on my My Purchases page. Also show me the credit card I use for these and allow me to change that card or to enroll in or cancel either of these automatic "payments." Note: We're combining the My Purchases and My Recurring Payments "pages."

  18. Show leader permission required even if registration isn't open GH1498

    Show if leader permission is required on the activity page before registration opens. Currently if registration is not open yet, the activity page says when registration will open but does not mention if leader permission is required or not. It's frustrating to wait until the day registration opens and then discover that you need to have emailed the leader first.

    Leader permission now shows before registration is open so you can be prepared to email the leader.

  19. Tailor receipt (thank you) page messages to items purchased SD344

    Add six rich text fields to the Thank You page for each of these item types: membership, course, activity, book, merchandise, donation. Each field would be displayed if the shopping cart contains and item of its type.
