  1. Registration Date/Time for Cancelled Students should change GH1755

When someone drops from a course, update the registration date to reflect the date of cancellation. Currently the original registration date remains in that field. This makes is hard to track when individuals drop from the course.

This is very difficult to add to our website, so we now send this information to our or CRM, so that we can help as needed with refund processing and informing you of cancellation status. Please contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org, if you need any help with this.

  2. bulk course roster management

Allow course admins to multi-select students for the purpose of mass cancellation/roster management. Note: the multi-select is already there, but I can't cancel/move all the selected registrants.

Completed 12/8/14. Look for the blue button at the bottom of the course roster that says “Change Role or Expiration” This is what you can use to bulk graduate people or bulk extend a student badge.

  3. Apply member discount to course fee if membership is in shopping cart

It's giving me the non-member price for the course even though I have a membership in my shopping cart.

  4. Course Activity Data Export Improvement GH3028

Investigate alternatives for the Course Activities Export. It takes several minutes to get the datatables view, because there are often several thousand records associated with the request. There may be more, but few options are:

    • Check how much overhead there is in Diazo processing of the markup? Avoiding that may be one reason that converting the main course roster view to be React-based helped so much. If that's correct you could possibly load this part of the page in an iframe that bypasses Diazo.

  6. Error Check for Instructor Requirement

Adding error check for adding and editing a course activity where instructors are needed but there is no instructor prerequisite badge will ensure that activities are set up correctly. This will ensure that members and guests who are qualified can register as an instructor and to be sure that only those who are qualified can register to be an instructor.

  7. Improve Skill Badge Assignment for Successful Activity Completion

Allowing leaders to choose which skill badge(s) to assign when closing an activity better support activities where multiple skills are learned and our modularization efforts. Currently it's an "all or none" assignment.

  9. Add to courses an "Instructor Capacity" to limit the number of instructors

Courses currently have a "Student Capacity" to limit student enrollment but do not have an "Instructor Capacity" to limit instructor enrollment. This can create situations where too many instructors sign up, which in turn can create problems wherein too many instructors show up and have nothing to do, or can create create additional work for course leaders to reach out to instructors and ask them to cancel. Either way, it creates an awkward situation in an organization where we want to gratefully encourage as much volunteering as we can.

Note that it is possible set limits on the number of…

The instructor slots for a course are designed to be a roll up of all instructors helping out with a course that has multiple field trips and lectures. I think it would be best to use our new single seminar and clinic functionality for activities like the backcountry snowshoeing skills instructor clinic. Listing as a clinic means you can designate the title to be whatever you want, have earned badges AND most importantly for you be able to designate how many instructor slots you want and participant slots.

    See example here: https://www.mountaineers.org/about/branches-committees/everett-branch/committees/everett-climbing/course-templates/intermediate-leading-on-rock-everett/activities/introductory-lecture-and-practical-mountaineers-seattle-program-center

Once there is an activity template you can simply schedule like you would a snowshoe or hike.

Learn how to schedule them here: https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteers/leader-resources/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar#scheduleclinic

  10. Close registration for courses that were created before registration close date field existed GH 1148

Is it possible to close registration for all courses that happened last year. The default when we added registration open and close dates to courses was to have them perpetually open which has meant we have had a handful of these incorrect sign ups.

From Jeff- The best fix actually might be blocking registration for a course whose end date is in the past.
