  1. Difficulty Label Changes

The long-form of this proposal with better formatting and screenshots is here:
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vef3Nw-ulHzJdeKUhYSv95PX7FcAcigM7R2z6H5tn8g/edit?usp=sharing

This is a copy-paste and loses formatting:

    ==========================

    Problem
All trips posted have a “Difficulty” rating and a “Leader Rating” value, but trip listings only display the Difficulty rating. Sometimes the difficulty of a trip is indicated by the combination of the difficulty field and the trip template. For example, an Intermediate Snowshoe is posted using an “Intermediate Snowshoe” template and will have a difficulty label to indicate how strenuous the trip is expected to be. Other activities, such as Cross-Country Skiing, indicate the trip difficulty solely…

  2. Stop stripping line breaks from Leader Permission request comments section

Most people (myself included) when entering information for the leader in the permission request comment box, make an effort to format it as cleanly as possible with line breaks to organize provided information.

However, the code appears to strip all these line breaks from the text and drop a super messy blob of text in the request email that comes to leaders. This makes the leader's job unnecessarily harder because we have to mentally parse the blob back into the requester's intended presentation.

Could we please stop stripping the line breaks and preserve the intended format?

  3. Allow trip leaders to require additional skill/course badges per trip

Currently, the trip templates set the course or skill badges required for participants (or other leaders) to sign-up for trips. The problem is that these only specify the minimum set that could apply to that template.

I would like, as a trip leader, the ability to require specific badges on a per-trip basis.

To get concrete with an example: the Winter Scrambling template requires only that a participant be a graduate of the Scrambling or Climbing courses. However, the standards state that "leaders may require additional prerequisites on Winter Scramble trips". A common prerequisite a leader might wish to add…

With our current website configuration, we aren't able to accommodate this request. We have marked this as a low priority for now, and as we continue to make improvements to skill badge functionality and implementation we will keep this feedback under consideration. In the meantime, the leader’s notes field can be used to specify additional skills required beyond the activity template prerequisites, and vetted through Leader Permission requests.

  4. Stop showing activities that occur TODAY in the "My Activities History" section

Right now, any event I am leading today shows up as the first thing in the "My Activities History" section on my profile. However, this is (and always has been) very annoying, because I have to scroll down to find it. Due to recent (and welcome) website optimizations, the history section loads more slowly, so I have to wait for it to load before I can open the activity I'm leading that day in order to print the roster.

The activity I'm leading that day is the activity I'm going to need to access the quickest in order to print…

  5. Leader's Permission Request activation date

It is unclear when leader permission for an activity should be requested. Some leaders may intend for the request to occur after registration opens, but many requests are in advance. Wise trip leaders make it clear in the description. It might take some burden off leaders to assign a date to this that is visible on the activity.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the leader’s permission process. Leader’s Permission can be a critical tool for ensuring a successful trip, but good communication is key to avoiding frustration. We are unable to make technology improvements to the functionality of Leader’s Feedback at this time, but thanks to your feedback we have updated our Leader’s Permission Required blog and are highlighting your feedback as a reminder for participants. https://www.mountaineers.org/blog/what-is-leaders-permission

  7. Display "Leader's Permission Required" and Registration Opening Date on Field Trip Pages

It would be nice if it showed up the page I look at and have the opening date like the climbs I post.

  8. Lead Activity Again via "Single Activity Cloning" GH3234

To make it easier for leaders to schedule an activity that they've already led, add what is sort of a copy-and-paste/single clone feature and display on the Lead Activity Again button in the "Manage Activity" portlet.

This new "single clone" feature would:
    - Create a copy of the activity
    - Place it in the same folder as the activity being copied
    - Increment it's URL as if it were made by staring with the route/place
    - Run all of error and conflict checks
    - Display the newly added/copied activity's edit form with any errors

  10. Create a Single-Pitch Sport Climb Leader badge ~WebsiteContent

A pathway to leadership for students who participate in the Leading Bolted Routes or Sport Climbing courses would serve to create a pipeline of knowledgable, interested instructors for future courses, and help to ensure that Mountaineers' high standards are maintained during instruction in future classes and on official sport climbing trips.

This badge would be distinct from any of the other existing climb leader badges, but would require a similar pathway-- leadership, WFA/MOFA, resume, etc.

Thanks for your suggestion. Last fall, we completed the modularization and reorganization of our climbing leadership structure. This new structure achieves a number of important outcomes: (1) Offers transparency to the students and equalizes the experience for all aspiring leaders. (2) Provides a clear leadership pathway where aspiring leaders can see a road map to how they can become a leader in whatever climbing pursuit they are interested in leading. (3) Provides early leadership opportunities, giving our members a chance to feel valued and develop their leadership skills early on, while they are also developing their technical skills. We believe this will lead to more leaders, and early identification of individuals who may have been overlooked for leadership opportunities in the past, thereby reducing the burden on our top leaders to run crag outings. We believe this will increase our trip offerings overall. You can learn more about the new…

  11. Fix Required Input Needed error on roster GHtbd

When you are trying to add someone to the roster it often spits back a "Required Input Needed" error even when you have entered someone's name or email correctly. Fortunately you can just hit Save and override error message but its confusing for new leaders.

  12. Add a trip plan upload and PLB checkbox GH2824

Add the ability to upload a "trip plan" to an activity. In addition, we would like a checkbox that indicates if the trip party is planning to carry a PLB. The ability to upload a trip plan is priority #1, and the PLB checkbox is priority #2 (if it is not a lot of additional work).

  14. An optional listing of activities by sign-up closing date would be useful.

Greetings, I am looking at the webpage listing of backpacking trips
    https://www.mountaineers.org/explore/activities#c4=Backpacking&_authenticator=85ed85bf9f9b5b690f54ae2e41091ad49b0b5563
and there are trips that commence several weeks from now that have sign-ups closing this week. I suspect that these trips will be undersubscribed because people don't scroll down far enough. If the trips could optionally be listed by sign-up closure, that would help these trips to get more attention. Thank you!

  15. Add Email Notification for Comments SD642

Make it so comments on trip reports, blog posts, etc. send an email to the person who posted the trip report so they can respond and have a dialogue about conditions. We'll also need a way to opt out of this email.

Note: If the commenter shared their profile their name is a link that will provide their email address.

    * I am a participant and I want to only view courses and activities that have availability.
    * I am a leader and I want to only view courses and activities that have leader availability.

  17. Warning message to leader if other trips scheduled in that area ~Salesforce

For routes that can have multiple trips listed... Can I suggest a website change for those locations that allow multiple registrations, to possibly have some sort of a pop-up come up informing the leader something to the effect of

"Yeah you are the only one currently registered for this location on your activity date" or

"hmm -- you are now the Xth user registering for this location on on your activity date; please use your judgement about whether this would work"

  18. Option for "Closed" vs "Open" Activities

There needs to be a better way to handle closed activity sign-ups such as SIG-only outings. When hunting for activities, it is frustrating how many of the outings are actually closed events for a set group of people and not open to the public. Surely there's a way to remove these closed events from the publicly searchable activities board.

  19. Make 'alternative place' names visible from Routes (see GH1476?)

The alternative place names that are accessible partway through setting up a trip are of limited usefulness when you cannot view them beforehand. For example - I tried to set up a hike going to West Tiger #2. I couldn't see that there was such a route under the WT 1-2-3; I ended up setting up the trip under WT 3, using the Section Line alternative (at least partly correct). Learning of the existence of the WT#2, I was unable to Edit the trip via the WT 1-2-3 as the alternatives don't appear.

  20. Update webpage text for how to close an activity

    On https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteer/schedule-manage/activities#closing-activities

it states 'When viewing the activity, click on the "Roster" button in the orange admin panel on the left side of the screen. Under "Set Activity Results", you can choose a Trip Result, then click the "Save" button.'

It seems that 'close activity' has been moved out of the Roster section, and into a 'Manage Activity' section on the right hand side of the page. The text should be updated to indicate that.

    Thank you!
