General Feedback

The UserVoice Feedback forum enables Mountaineers to share ideas and exchange feedback with other Mountaineers. You may follow any forum idea and you will be notified of comments or status changes to that idea. All forum participants get ten votes to assign to ideas, and your votes help us prioritize the needs most important to our members. We receive lots of great feedback, so please search the forum first before creating a new idea. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and explanation. Thank you for your participation!

If you want to learn more about what has already been developed and what is up next, please visit our Technology Blog, https://www.mountaineers.org/blog/technology.

Please note that all our courses, events, trips and course related activities have feedback forms that you can fill out after each activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly (not sure who the chair is, contact Member Services at info@mountaineers.org).

If you reached this site wanting to report problem behavior by another member or harassment. Please fill out this form: https://www.mountaineers.org/about/board-of-directors/board-policies/board-policies-files/4-behavioral-complaint-form.

Share your idea...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. My Calendar SD411

Add a "My Calendar" page where I can see all of my activities on a calendar, or subscribe to an iCal feed of my activities.

    Update April 2018
We are "cancelling" this for lack of a better status, because each of the items below is its own idea, and some are complete. Please visit the individual items to vote for or subscribe to them. Thanks!

    Update April 26 2016
Thanks to everyone who took the leader survey. The calendar requests with the most votes are below.

Thanks to everyone who took the leader survey. The calendar requests with the most votes are below.

    1. The ability to filter by weekday or weekend which we are tracking here: http://feedback.mountaineers.org/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/7910340-weekend-activities-filter

    2. Ability to receive a calendar reminder when registration is opening for an activity. This is part of the Alerts & Notification idea, https://mountaineers.uservoice.com/forums/273688-general-feedback/suggestions/7457242-add-bucket-tick-wish-list-and-email-notifications

    3. Ability to sync outside calendar (Outlook, Google) with your Mountaineers Activities/Events which is part of the original idea above. COMPLETEALL calendar views on our website come with a iCal download, so for anything with a calendar view, you can download the relevant calendars and view them overplayed…

  2. Eliminate or change the SK ratings for Sea Kayak Route/Places

From the 2/7/15 Sea Kayak Summit - all of the leaders from the represented branches at this summit (all branches except Kitsap and Bellingham) agreed that SK ratings for a route/place (NOT an "Activity") was of limited usefulness. Many agreed with the suggestion of changing the route/place rating to something more general such as "beginner, moderate," or other phrases that referred to the amount of POTENTIAL exposure, but did not purport to address all of the varying conditions that could occur at different times and in different weather.

Chris Williams worked with our Sea Kayaking Leadership on this issue. It was decided that having difficulties on Sea Kayaking Routes & Places is desired. Like all trips, difficulties can vary widely based on weather and other conditions.

  3. Map of phone numbers to call for back country rescue

How about posting a map showing which number should be called in case an emergency rescue is needed in any given area in the Washington Cascades (or Olympics)? Maybe it already exists, but I couldn't find it. Ideally, the map would clearly delineate the boundaries between rescue jurisdictions.

As Jeff mentioned in the comments below, calling 911 is the very first thing that should be done in an emergency situation. Read more about our Emergency Contact Procedures here: https://www.mountaineers.org/about/safety/emergency-contact-procedures/view.

Although there are some general jurisdictions for SAR teams they do work with eachother and the Navy, different county Sheriff’s office etc to see what resources are available most quickly. Most of the time the most useful information is to know whether you are in a National Park or if you aren’t in a National Park which county you are in along with the trailhead where you entered. Washington Department of Transportation has some good maps online to help identify which county you are in before heading out. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/mapsdata/products/digitalmapsdata.htm

The next step after 911 is calling the Mountaineers specific emergency line 206-521-6030 and the folks on that line will additionally help triage the situation.

  4. Volunteer Recognition Badges

We have Super Volunteer and Key Leader Badges. What other ideas do you have for volunteer recognition badges? This input, combined with our current and future website abilities will help us make the best decisions as we develop ways to recognize the hard work that our volunteers do.

We’ve not seen any interest in this at this time so cancelling this item at this time.

  7. Move Question Mark

The question mark at the bottom of the web page is right on top of the down arrow on the scroll bar, so its really easy to accidentally click on it, which is very annoying. Can we move the location of the question mark a little so that it doesn't cover the scroll bar? (from Ralph Wessels)

  9. Still Logged In as a Zope User GH1096

A few folks have received a "Still Logged is as Zope User" message when logging out of the website. Please let us know if you are one of them. Thanks!

Here is info that would be helpful to us if you experience this issue:

    - What device are you using (brand, model, etc.)

    - What browser and operating system you are using.

    - Was there anything odd about when you logged in?

    - From where did you log in (e.g. following a link in an email or bookmark/favorite that required log in or navigation directly to mountaineers.org.)?

    - What page…
