This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization. We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum first before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation of your idea and how it benefits The Mountaineers. Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have feedback forms so that you give feedback for everything in which you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback.   1. Response to feedback in an email

    We still are constantly fighting to create a culture to provide more feedback, near misses, and such. If the feedback survey is short and also can be directly responded via email - we may see some more reports.
    Also, "please share why you choose above rating" questions don't return much responses and suggest combining it with "is there anything else that you'd like to add" or "do you have any additional comments about the learning environment" question with a change to the text to reflect the same.

  2. Improve Committee-aggregated Feedback Pages GH2954/2955

    (1) Add a "More Info" or make it so that clicking on the "comment" in feedback takes the user to the "All" feedback page for the activity, course, event, or lodge stay from which that feedback originated.

    (2) Add a "Download All | Download Selected" button to the bottom of the page that downloads a spreadsheet file with one sheet/tab for each feedback survey (e.g. Course Feedback, Field Trip, Lecture, Seminar, and Clinic Feedback, Trip Feedback, etc.).   4. Improve Activity-aggregated Feedback Pages GH2959

    (1) Change "Feedback" at the top of the page to the title of the feedback survey.
    (2) Make the title of the course, activity, event or lodge stay a link to that item's details page.
    (3) Add the leader's name and activity date(s) below the title.
    (4) Add the title of the course template if the item is a course activity.

  5. Automatically Add Instructors to Committee Roster GH2511

    When an person registers for or is registered for an activity as an Instructor, in addition to adding them to the course's team roster (if part of a course), add them as an Instructor to the sponsoring Committee's team roster as an instructor or check their instructor box if they are already on the Committee's team roster and their Instructor box is not already checked.

  6. Improve Course Application Process GH2951

    Improve the online forms so that applications can be housed on our website (which is ideal), with a prefilled field linking to a particular course, that the form builder creates. When the form is submitted, the applicant is automatically added to the "applied" roster, and the same process continues from there. This has the advantage of reducing admin burden, but it will require our online forms to be much easier to build so that our leaders will make applications in plone. Probably a much bigger project.

  7. Consolidate Responses on Website Feedback Forms SD672

    We updated the responses to some of the "questions" on our feedback survey forms. The aggregated data shows both the old and the new/edited response. To make the data clearer, we should consolidate the old and new response so that are counted as being the same.

  8. Enable Safety Officers to Submit Incident Reports GH2964

    Allow Safety Officer ability to submit an Incident Report tied to an activity, course or event on another person's behalf (e.g. from a phone interview).

  9. Add "Applied" as a Registration Status Option GH2950

    Add a status that the course leader could assign when they manually add an applicant to the roster, before they have been accepted or declined. eg. the Basic Climbing Course roster would have 300 applicants that were manually entered by the leaders. (this has the problems of communicating to applicants to create a guest account and probably too much admin burden for leaders). As students are accepted, they are moved to "offered" at which point they can pay for the course. All who aren't accepted simply remain on the "applied" roster. This would allow a quick report for following years…

  11. Volunteer (instructor recruitment) request opt in GH2800

    With mega course rosters for instructor recruitment and other ways we can email people through the website it would be nice for people to have a way of opting in/out of instructor recruitment emails.

  12. Add Feedback Links to Committee Roster GH2939

    On the committee roster add a column without a header and with links called "Feedback" that are visible to admins only for each leader (so there will be two links--Edit and Feedback). Clicking on the "Feedback" link opens the leader's My Feedback page details in a dialog box (aka pop-up). This should help committee administrators to more quickly review their committee's feedback leader-by-leader.

  13. Keep a Waitlist for Lodge Stays SD671/555/560

    Waitlists for lodge stays are complicated and challenging both because of the potential for one person to make a reservation for multiple people and the number of nights for which they may wish register.

    It may be best to keep a waitlist "separate" from the roster for each lodge stay and automatically email the entire list if any amount of availability opens. Then it's back to a first come, first served basis. This is a "notify me if space becomes available" rather than our "traditional" waitlist functionality.

  15. Improve Lodge Stay Cancellation Process - Part 2 GH2759

    As a volunteer admin on an outdoor center committee, allow me to cancel one or more lodge stays for our lodge, so that members and guests will know that it has been canceled (on the website), that those who registered will be notified of the cancellation, and so that staff can issue refunds to those who registered and paid.

    The automation for this involve adding a button or link to lodges stays (or lodge stay rosters) so that when canceled (and confirmed with a popup yes/no-style check) that the state of the lodge stay(s) is/are set to "canceled" and all…

    For a two-night stay, what we have may be enough, but for longer stays a matrix-style sign-in sheet might be better. Or it may be better if we have a different printable sign-in sheet for each lodge.

  17. Use "Age Group" Radio Buttons Instead of "Age" for Lodge Reservations SD637

    Is it better to use radio buttons for the age groups [i.e. one for Adults (age 14+) and another for Youth (age 13-)] when reserving a lodge stay than asking for actual age? What are the pros and cons?

    Using radio buttons is better when one person is making a lodge reservation for another and does not know their age. I suspect with will happen a lot, especially for lodge admins who add hosts and other volunteers, as well as people who might bring a friend.

  18. Create More Robust Safety Committee Data Analysis SD52/465/466

    Currently, participants submit incident reports to the Safety Committee, which then compiles the data and looks for trends in the aggregate (it does a lot more than that as well, but this aspect of its work is onerous). If we connected incident reporting with routes/places and even illustrated on a map, committees could analyze trends and information much more rapidly and wouldn't have to wait for Safety Committee reports. Safety Committee efforts could then be more available for training and prevention work now that the data crunching burden has been reduced.   19. Add a Cancellation Closing Date to Lodge Stays GH2783

    Lodges need a minimum number of guests to open and must decide by Thursdays at noon whether to open for the weekend. After this point, the decision is made and to open and funds for food has been committed. But we can often handle more reservations, see we need to be able to keep reservations open longer, but prevent cancellations and refunds from being processed after the go/no go decision point.

  20. Add family member lookup for lodge stays SD635

    As a logged in member i'd like to see my family members showing up when registering so i don't have to retype name/ages and this allows for better tracking in database of who is actually using the lodge.
