General Feedback

This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization. We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum first before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation of your idea and how it benefits The Mountaineers. If you want to learn more about what has already been developed and what is up next, please visit our Technology Blog. Thank you for your participation!

Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have feedback forms so that you give feedback for everything in which you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. Not sure who the chair is? Visit our Committee Chair Directory or contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org.

If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback. You may also use the Incident Report button on the activity detail page (from your My Activities page) or contact our Safety Committee directly at safety@mountaineers.org.

If you reached this site wanting to report problem behavior or harassment by another member, please submit a Behavioral Complaint Form.

  1. Make Header Only Toggle Between Publishing/Programs on Click GH2872

With the most recent 3.1 update to mountaineers.org, the header changed so that it's "responsive" when you mouseover either "The Mountaineers" or "Mountaineers Books". In the past, you had to click on one to toggle, and now the header menu will change if you mouseover (either on purpose or on accident).

As a super-user, this is frustrating because I often end up in the wrong environment on accident then have to revisit the header to get back to the proper menu items.

Please change it back to swap only on clicks.

  2. Improve (Prevent) Header Switching When Viewing Content SD632

As a site visitor keep the universal header selection and global (section or subsite?) header (The Mountaineers or Mountaineers Books) displayed until I choose to switch so that I do not have a jarring navigation experience while I am browsing the site.

  3. Allow Site Admins to Delete Comments GH2498

Allow Site Admins (i.e. Staff group) to delete comments on content items. So far we mostly have comments on blogs. This is needed for improved comment moderation.

  4. Revise Save Data Adapter View GH2941

The PFG "Save to Data" adapter view (see attached) make it seem to easy to delete the entire data set, because the "Clear Saved Input" button is too prominent. I think it would be best is the big blue button were changed to be "Download Saved Data" and we add a "Clear saved data" link at the right of the page.

  5. Fix rich text fields in our form builders so that are mobile accessible.

In order to make application processes simple for the applicants, we need to be able to allow the applicant to hyperlink other documents into an application, which we use a rich text field for. these rich text fields are not accessible (or even visible) on mobile, so we're getting applications with blank answers, and the applicant didn't even know there were questions they missed.

    Completed  ·  Jeff Bowman responded

Completed May 2019. We “fixed” existing forms that have/had rich text fields.

  6. Create a category of documents that are truly private

Currently even if a listing or document is marked private by the creator it can still be viewed by ANYONE who is listed as a leader for any committee on the mountaineers website., except for member profiles. On occasion we create and want to archive documents and trip listings that the creator does not currently, or ever, want those hundreds of Mountaineers leaders to be able to see (trip postings that aren't ready for prime time, participant information for a Global Adventure that may include passport details, etc.) I'm guessing that few people who click 'private' on the status bar…

Website permissions are automatically assigned as needed. We can manually make exceptions to these. If you think thi sis needed, please send a request with the details of how you think permissions need to be different and a link to where this is (or your best description if it is something new we’re adding) to info@mountaineers.org.

  7. Uncheck all email opt-ins when the email opt-out box is checked in Salesforce.

Add a process in Salesforce that unchecks all email opt-ins on a member's profile if the email opt-out box is ever checked in Salesforce.

  8. Allow summary text to wrap around the photo on the front page of a listing GH2886

Currently it often happens that some of the text of the summary for an event or seminar listing ends up covered by the photo. Can we make it possible for the text to wrap around the photo? It's very frustrating to have to go back and forth and tweak the summary text so that it isn't covered by the photo!

  9. Add back grey line text divider line in rich text fields GH2427

Previously you could add a gray line to break up your text in blogs and other text heavy fields. Ever since we launched the new text editor that <hr> HTML tag has disappeared - bring it back!

  10. Fix time entry so that entering 12:00 AM (midnight) works GH2602

Currently when we enter 12:00 AM in a datetime field, it is converted to 12:00 PM when saved. Note that entering 00:00 AM works, so this is the workaround.

  11. Add Photo Galleries SD383

Show a nice-looking, well-themed gallery (e.g. slide show) view of a folder chock full of photos! Galleries will be curated from photos collected by many methods (social media, trips reports, etc.).

  13. Upgrade to latest 4.3.x version of Plone GH2850

To make sure we have the latest bugfixes, can more easily contribute any fixes of our own back to Plone, and are in the best position to upgrade to Plone 5.

  14. Upgrade to Plone 5

Our website is built on Plone 4.3 which runs on Python 2. Support for Python 2 ends in 2020. Plans to have Plone 5.2 on Python 3 are in the works. To be sure we are able to maintain support and install needed security patches, we should begin the process of upgrading to Plone 5 in late FY2019 and complete the transition in early FY2020. We will get many small side benefits from the upgrane to Plone 5 like being able to have links in help text and importing events.

  15. Create more robust Offered expiration date/time

We'd like to be able to send multiple reminders of offered status and can't report or make emails that do that without a hard date/time added to the course participant and activity participant record in Salesforce

Now we have a single reminder email sent from our system with a “hard” date and time.

  16. Migrate Email to “The Cloud” ~IT

Email, shared and personal calendars, active directory for access to local resources (e.g. printers).
