This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any idea and will be notified of its status changes. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization.

We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation, and how it could benefit The Mountaineers. If you want to learn more about what we've already implemented and what is up next, please visit our Technology Blog. Thank you for your participation!

Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have forms for you to give feedback when you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. Not sure who the chair is? Visit our Committee Chair Directory or contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org.

If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback. You may also use the Incident Report button on the activity detail page (from your My Activities page) or contact our Safety Committee directly at safety@mountaineers.org.

If you purchased books or merchandise and checked out or donated without having first logged into an account, we started an account for you.   1. SEO Improvements 2017-18 GHP1 SD587

    We engaged Portent, Inc. to review our website from an SEO (Search Engine Optimization, e.g. Google) perspective. They gave us a set of recommendations that involve both technical and content improvements to our website. Overall, this is likely a large project, but will likely be many very small projects that we can accomplish with our monthly support over time.

    We completed all of the high priority items form our SEO review in 2017. We expect some of the remaining items may be on our next SEO review which is TDB.

  2. Hold Space in Registration Process

    To prevent member and guests from losing a space after they begin the registration process, we need to hold that space for long enough for them to pay for the course or activity. This will also fix the issue where items have registration end date but remaining in the shopping cart indefinitely.

  4. Update Privacy settings for leaders and admins GH2102

    Right now some of our leaders have their profiles set to Private but we need members to be able to see leader's badges and emails for communication. Please note this would not share leader's address, emergency contact, phone etc, just email/badges/profile bio

  6. ADD AUTOMATIC ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL PAYMENTS AND AUTOMATIC MONTHLY DONATIONS TO MY PURCHASES SD420

    If I have, show automatic annual membership renewal payments and automatic monthly donations on my My Purchases page. Also show me the credit card I use for these and allow me to change that card or to enroll in or cancel either of these automatic "payments." Note: We're combining the My Purchases and My Recurring Payments "pages."

  8. Add Staff UI for Procesing Refunds SD289

    Now that we have a My Purchases on the website, we need to be able to properly record refund transactions in all of our systems. This will also reduce the time needed and improve the accuracy of by our Members Service Team to process refunds.

    • Staff need the ability to issue refund (full and partial) when canceling a person from an activity or course.
    • Staff eed to be able to cancel a person'smembership and refind a specified amoutn of annual dues that have been paid.

  9. Add age parameters for youth only activities GH 1253

    To prevent adults from registering themselves or the incorrect family member allow course leaders to indicate age parameters as pre-requisites for courses, course related activities and activities.

    There is now a minimum and maximum age field on courses and activities to avoid having parents sign up for youth specific activities.

  11. Have RSVP system for event listings on Calendar SD346

    Make it possible to have members and non members RSVP to events like lecture series and Gear Grab. You should be able to register more than just one and put in your guest's names.

    Wahoo you can now rsvp for an intown event like a gear grab or lecture series

  12. Improve making suggestions for edits or updates to routes/places GH1495

    Make it easier to suggest edits to a route/place.

    Could move the suggest links up near the book activity widgit.

    Online form connected to the links. comments welcome!

    We moved "Suggest edit " to be under “Suggest photo” and remove the "Suggest new’ link.

  13. Set up automated autorenewal email and reminder about lapsed membership

    Not currently automated, would be time saver to have more of these automated to ensure member renewal.

    Yes, emails are now being sent reminding members on the 15th of the month that their card will be charged and emails going when card is charged and if their card payment fails

  14. "add new comment" box to the top of blog posts and trip reports.

    Previously you had to scroll all the way down through trip reports and blog comments to add a new one instead of having a button at the top
