General Feedback

This forum is for you to share ideas and exchange feedback with Mountaineers members, guests, volunteers, and leadership. You may vote for or comment on any forum idea and will be notified of status changes to that idea. Your feedback helps us prioritize projects and improvements for our organization. We receive lots of great ideas, so please search the forum first before adding a new one. If your idea is not yet in our forum, please post it with a simple title and an explanation of your idea and how it benefits The Mountaineers. If you want to learn more about what has already been developed and what is up next, please visit our Technology Blog. Thank you for your participation!

Please note that all our courses, events, trips and course-related activities have feedback forms so that you give feedback for every activity in which you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. Not sure who the chair is? Contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org.

If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback. You may also use the Incident Report button on the activity detail page (from your My Activities page) or contact our Safety Committee directly at safety@mountaineers.org.

If you reached this site wanting to report problem behavior by another member or harassment. Please submit a Behavioral Complaint Form.

  1. Separate Site Search Results for Images SD644

In the site search, place all search results except images in one "tab" and images in another.

We also have a lot of folders, especially ones titled, "Images" and "Resources," so we may want to have "tab" for folders too or rank them low in search results.

This will help rank more important items higher in the search (e.g. a person's profile page above their profile image).

  2. Have search button at the top of the site search retain any filters

If I click on any of the three buttons, I am transported to a different kind of search for each button. But along the way, my search argument is lost and has to be re-entered on the new search page. It would be great if the search argument and filters would carry over to the next search.

  3. Make it more obvious that the buttons at the top of site search are other searches

After clicking the magnifying glass, the "Find Activities" button is green and a different color from the other buttons. It gives the false impression we are looking at the results of an activity search. I think that button should be blue, just like the other two.

Another approach is to add some text that indicate these buttons take you to other searches.

  4. Bookmarking a place in the activities list SD387

When I’m scrolling through the Activities and something catches my eye, I’ll open it to check out the details. After reading it and deciding to continue, I click the browser back button or the back to activities arrow. Either way it takes me back to the TOP of the activities page even if I had been at the bottom. I have to scroll back down to where I was – if I remember where that was – to continue where I left off. There should be a way to return to where you left off without all the backtracking. Is…

  5. Add Map Area/Radius Filter to Route/Place and Activity Searches

Right now the map view of search results doesn't show if you don't have any filters chosen, because the map view has a limit on the number of records (balloons) that may be displayed. Add the ability to filter by an defined area--two corners of a rectangle or a radius around a point.
