Automated email notification for people in waitlist x days before the course start
Currently some courses have lots of people in the wait list. Some of these people are registered in the wait list months before the course starts. If there is an automated notification to remind them that they are still on the waitlist. And ask them to cancel from the waitlist if they already have some other plans. Hopefully we will end up only with those who are still interested in taking the course. So we can offer the course to those who are still interested and we don't waste time offering to those who are already have other plans.

Allow course leaders to offer spots to students whose offer has expired GH2971
Right now students are offered a spot and they have 5 days to complete offer and then they are put into cancelled mode. Students also can be trying to complete their offer online and for courses where you have to pick field trips they often navigate away from the screen to check calendars and when they come back the 30 minutes is up and they have been kicked into cancelled mode. Both of these cancellations usually result in the student reaching out to the course leader and the course leader is unable to offer them a spot so instead member…

Clarify rolling enrollment confirmation emails ~SFOnly
Right now the email shows only the start date of the first course lecture/field trip which is confusing. Make it so both start and end dates show AND it states that it is rolling enrollment and the individual course dates will be shown in separate activity email

Allow application files directly uploaded to course edit form GH2764
Make it so I can directly upload my course application on the course Edit form. Having to find my url and remember which folder i uploaded my application in is confusing and not intuitive.
1 voteWe added a link to the help text that opens the Course Materials folder in a new tab or window so that a file or web form can be added or its URL copied more easily. It’s one click up to the course template and it’s other folders if the application form is stored in a folder other than in the Course Materials folder.

Create a "Do Not Send Automatic Confirmation Email" checkbox to activities or activity templates GH2002
In some cases like summer camp field trips and/or required lectures for courses, its confusing or annoying to members to receive confirmation emails. We would like to be able to turn off this functionality in certain cases like this.

Make the course application hyperlink text into a more prominent blue button GH2176
Currently, there is tiny hyperlink text above the register button for a course for a person to submit an online application. I would like to see that as a prominent blue button above the yellow register button. The hyperlink text just doesn't jump out.

Fix Rolling Enrollment Date Structure
Make sure that you can set up a course for rolling enrollment that then closes after the course end date so if you have 8 workshops under one course header for 2014 you can start over in 2015 with a new course and 8 new field trips that don't get rolled into one. This helps avoid huge course rosters to maintain.
1 voteCompleted at the end of December 2015 thanks to testing from First Aid coordinator Mary Panza.

Always list field trip locations in Course Activities GH1126
For course activities, include the location even when there is only ONE location.
Example: (1st FT listing is great, 2nd FT listings is poor)
Crag Course FT 1
Tieton River Sat, May 2
Vantage Sun, May 2Crag Course FT 2, Sat, May23 - Sun May24
(NO LOCATION LISTED. REQUEST LOCATION ALSO BE LISTED)1 vote -
Apply member discount to course fee if membership is in shopping cart
It's giving me the non-member price for the course even though I have a membership in my shopping cart.

Skill Badges as Activity Prerequisites SD313/414
Some benefits to using skill badges as prerequisites for activities include:
--Lessening bureaucracy and improving course administration. For example, Basic Climbing Admins would be able to track student progress online, rather than manually in booklets, and it can ensure that Basic Climbing students cannot register for glacier climbs until they've successfully completed glacier skills training.
--Allowing course leaders to specify leader prerequisites for skills conditioners, allowing people to grow into leadership, broadening the leadership funnel.
--Encouraging leaders who are reluctant to take students they don’t know on climbs to open them up, because they will be able to see more…0 votes -
Improve Skill Badge Assignment for Successful Activity Completion
Allowing leaders to choose which skill badge(s) to assign when closing an activity better support activities where multiple skills are learned and our modularization efforts. Currently it's an "all or none" assignment.

Add to courses an "Instructor Capacity" to limit the number of instructors
Courses currently have a "Student Capacity" to limit student enrollment but do not have an "Instructor Capacity" to limit instructor enrollment. This can create situations where too many instructors sign up, which in turn can create problems wherein too many instructors show up and have nothing to do, or can create create additional work for course leaders to reach out to instructors and ask them to cancel. Either way, it creates an awkward situation in an organization where we want to gratefully encourage as much volunteering as we can.
Note that it is possible set limits on the number of…
0 votesThe instructor slots for a course are designed to be a roll up of all instructors helping out with a course that has multiple field trips and lectures. I think it would be best to use our new single seminar and clinic functionality for activities like the backcountry snowshoeing skills instructor clinic. Listing as a clinic means you can designate the title to be whatever you want, have earned badges AND most importantly for you be able to designate how many instructor slots you want and participant slots.
Once there is an activity template you can simply schedule like you would a snowshoe or hike.
Learn how to schedule them here: https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteers/leader-resources/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar/schedule-a-course-clinic-or-seminar#scheduleclinic

Close registration for courses that were created before registration close date field existed GH 1148
Is it possible to close registration for all courses that happened last year. The default when we added registration open and close dates to courses was to have them perpetually open which has meant we have had a handful of these incorrect sign ups.
From Jeff- The best fix actually might be blocking registration for a course whose end date is in the past.

You can currently "offer" more spots than are actually available GH 1152/1188
Fix course capacity so that you can only offer as many spots as are actually available for that course. Right now you can have 5 spots available but make an offer to 10 people on the waitlist.

Allow new course templates to be created by leaders
We can get this set up with an email notification system to member services to assure that the course is in compliance with Mountaineers course and activity policies and minimum standards.
