If you want to learn more about what we've already implemented and what is up next, please visit our Technology Blog. Thank you for your participation!

Please note that all our courses, events, trips, course-related activities, clinics, seminars, and lodge stays have forms for you to give feedback when you participate. You’ll get an email reminder to do so just after the activity. If your feedback is of urgent nature it may be best to contact the chair of the committee that sponsors that program directly. Not sure who the chair is? Visit our Committee Chair Directory or contact our Member Services Team at info@mountaineers.org.

If there was a safety incident or near miss, you will have the opportunity for submitting an Incident Report after submitting activity feedback. You may also use the Incident Report button on the activity detail page (from your My Activities page) or contact our Safety Committee directly at safety@mountaineers.org.

  1. Waitlisted people can take themselves off a trip any time GH2131

I see why people signed up for a trip need to contact the leader to take themselves off a trip after signups for the trip has closed. However, I DON'T SEE why that applies for people who are merely waitlisted.
What is the possible logic for this?? Especially since being waitlisted means you can't sign up for anything else at the same time. You need to contact the leader and then the leader, who may be away from email, needs to take them off. Especially since the closure period for some trips is way in advance of the trip.

  2. Internal Link Dialog Fixes GH1949/1950

    1. Allow course listed to be selected as internal links by clicking through the bread crumbs or search.

    2. Fix the dialog so that when the breadcrumbs wrap to a second line, that they do not overlap the list of selections.

  3. Add Header Messaging Capability SD517

We added a home page pop-up a while ago for getting important communications out to members and guests.

This would be rich text that appear in a box/stripe that appears just below the header (and above the admin panel if it is visible) so that we can present members and guests with a less obtrusive way to highlight things that we thing are really important. Also allow members and guests to close this message until it is refreshed (changed entirely or edited).

  4. Larger profile pictures

Our community is stronger when we connect with one another and when other members can learn more about you. So while we’re at it, how about allowing larger views of members’ profile photos? I was delighted when the member profile feature was added to the web site, enabling me to see who I’m going on a trip with; but what’s with the microscopic space allotted to the profile photo? I have a 34-inch monitor, yet members’ photos show up in a tiny 2-inch circle and I have to peer closely at the screen to make out any facial features. The…

  5. "Post a new idea..." confusion

I found the "Post a new idea..." link on this page (on the right, under "General Feedback") to be confusing. I expect a link to take me to a new page, but actually it was a no-op. I would suggest just eliminate that link.

This is an issue with UserVoice that we have pointed out ti them. If you need help adding a feedback idea or need support, please contact us at info@mountaineers.org or 206-521-6000.

  6. Include full names in email address lists

When I get the list of email addresses for my activity, I would prefer to have the list include everyone's full name. For example, instead of
    person@gmail.com, person2@hotmail.com
    I would prefer to see
    "first last" person@gmail.com, "first2 last2" person2@hotmail.com
Then I would have human-friendly names in my emails.

  7. Update Billing Info for Automatic Renewal GH1977

The billing info associated with autorenewal payments is not getting updated in tandem with the user’s profile. Let's tweak the process to update the autorenewal billing info whenever the profile is updated, or at least give users the option to also update their billing info when they update their payment card info.

  8. Add a RENEW option to Join page

A member recently suggested this to me and I completely love the idea. They thought that when you click “Join The Mountaineers”, one of the options should be “Renew”. Currently, there’s nothing on the page that indicates to people that if they are already a member they need to log in and go to their profile to renew. The Join page has a blank square that is practically begging for us to add a “renew” option, as demonstrated in the attached pic.

  9. Reply to doesn't work on all email from mountaineers.org

Replying to emails written from leaders through mountaineers.org are not working for Windows 10 mail. Obviously Mountaineers can't control Windows but it might make sense to switch to participants being cc'd on organizing or the leader being cc'd so members don't send Member Services trip logistical emails.

Thanks for providing feedback. Unfortunately we can’t fix Windows 10 mail but it does work for other mail programs. We also have an option for leaders to capture roster emails and easily copy and paste them into their email in the cc’ field if a leader does have Windows 10 or wants to help facilitate carpooling.

  10. Fix Blog Title Text from Running into Photos GH1959

When longer words are used in blogs we are getting the image for the blog overlaid on top of the title text.

  12. Profile - improved clarity to user re what shows as public or private? GH1974

Might there be a better interface re our profiles that would make crystal clear to the user what information is kept private and what is viewable to Mountaineer members (public)?

**Update: Also would be good for leaders to be able to discern which members want their info private versus shared with our members. This means looking at how rosters show up for courses, activities and events for both participants and leaders.

  13. Online outdoor resume

I think that breaking down the various skills our courses teach is important and reiterate my support for "skill badges" that is already an idea in this system. However, I see benefit in creating a template that is populated with the skills a member has earned that takes the form of an outdoor resume people could download and modify. This could promote our efforts to make the burgeoning multi-billion-dollar outdoor industry accessible to the youth we serve (as well as help our members who are sick and tired of their current jobs and would love to make a career transition).…

  14. Printable Membership Card GH1834

We’ve had some feedback lately (well, always) from certain members who always want a membership card. Sending them individually is time consuming and expensive. How feasible would it be to design a page (something VERY simple) where people could print out their own membership cards?

  15. Add the Ability to Filter Activity Listing by Sponsoring Committee

Currently the activity listing can only be filtered by activity type and branch, but not by the sponsoring committee. In most cases this isn't a problem because the committee is the same as the activity type, but there are a few "community" committees, Retired Rovers, 20-30s Somethings, Singles. With the current system trips sponsored by these committees are basically impossible to find. The audience filters would work great for this, except that any trip can pick any of them, so most trips pick more than one.

    Can we either have:
    1) A way to filter the activity results by the…

  16. Problem with "cancellation pending"

Cancellation pending can be a problem for leaders when they are trying to cancel people off and add people from the waitlist right before the course. The people in "cancellation pending" count towards the number of registered students, which means that their spots can't be offered to anyone else until Member Services reviews their status and issues the refund, etc. Member Services then changes the status to "cancelled" which then frees up that spot for someone else. But the problem is that this lag in between "cancelled" and "cancellation pending" can sometimes take days and prevents leaders from being able…

I am sorry to hear you’ve experienced a lag time on cancellations. Unfortunately we need the cancellation pending status to process refunds. Member Services does cancellations every business day so if you are seeing a lag time of more than one business day on a course roster that is time sensitive please email info@mountaineers.org or give us a ring at 206-521-6001 so we can update immediately. Additionally if the course is shortly approaching you are welcome to email those on the waitlist to let them know they are in, send them course materials and alert them they will be offered a spot shortly.

In addition to our daily cancellation pending notifications we also recently implemented a weekly cancellation pending report to help ensure that these are processed in a timely manner.

  17. Add Stewardship How-to ~WebsiteContent

The Problem: There is currently nowhere (that I could find) on the website where it describes the specifics of getting the Stewardship credit. Result: hundreds of students have to e-mail info@mountaineers.org or call 206-521-6000, and some poor staffer has to answer / redirect the same questions, over and over.

Website has good descriptions of the badges and links to Mountaineers-sponsored activities, but there is nothing about the specific how-tos of who to contact or what documentation/photos/e-mail/whatever to be supplied.

So, there needs to be a page with that includes the following:
    - Stewardship contact
    - Expected documentation for stewardship activities,…

If you click on the stewardship credit badge you are taken to a page which describes how to earn the badge with us or with one of our partner organizations.

Note that with the recently launched development, the Stewardship Credit badge may now be awarded for successfully completing Stewardship activities through the mountaineers without having to email member services separately.

  18. Make ALL Text in theLeft Navigation Column White GH1691

The red (private), yellow (pending) and purple (shard with committee) are difficult to read on a light blue background and are distracting. Make all the text in the left navigation column white, no matter its state.

Not: We'll keep the colors in the folder contents view.

Also show a red warning on the main My Profile page and the My Payments page if the credit card if it expires before one of the person's automatic payments is scheduled.
