Make it easier to track recently added events
As a basic climbing student I'm trying to regularly check for new climbs, and the website is not helping me at all.
Currently there's no easy way to see recently added events. What would help is being able to create RSS feed from search results (like it's done on Craigslist, for example). This will automatically implement "event alerts", which other people requested, since there are many online services that can send RSS updates to e-mail. Or, at least you can add sorting search results by date added.
Other useful feature is sorting search results by registration start date.

Write your "Help" answers to FAQs from the perspective of someone who doesn't know the answer to the question already. Help ans's are poor.
Your help function is horrible. My envelope to renew my membership says "Pay your dues online at www.mountaineers.org !" I go there, and see no link to pay me dues. I go to Help, do a search under the dues payment topic, and find the question, "How do I pay my dues?" The answer given: "Go to the main page and navigate to your account and pay your dues." Helllllooooo. You need to tell the person who was already at the main page which links to click to get to "My Account". A very poorly written Help answer.

Allow users to make multiple selections for each filter category for a given date.
Example: "Show me all hikes/snowshoes/scrambles for 4/1/12, that are offered for the Seattle and Oly branches that are up to or at least a moderate pace (easy/moderate or moderate or moderate/fast)". I'd like to be able to check each selection and have the option to also "check all" or "check none" as my criteria changes.

Make it possible to sign in to main site for new members.
I joined Mountaineers last week at a seminar. I got my member card in the mail. I tried for almost an hour to sign in for the first time to the website. Very confusing user experience, and I can't even tell if I was successful or not. I went through the password reset sequence; it recognized my email and sent me a reset message. It seems that I was able to change my password, but when I try to sign in from the mountaineers.org homepage, it tells me my password is invalid or has expired. It's possible I changed my… more

I know the site was just restructured over the past two year, but it really needs help like many, many of the comments have suggested. Money well spent would be on a web architect. There is no reason for it to be difficult to find very basic things like Summer Kids Camps and to be able to change login, password and other critical information. My mom always used to tell me that it takes money to make money ... and I think in this case, it is true and very worth it. It would not only keep customers, but also… more

Fix the the login page
The login in page rendering is seriously messed up. The navigation menu is located half way down the page obscuring the form fields. I'd send a screen shot if I had an address to send it to, but couldn't find an contact us email address.

On the incident email report, add link to trip report
From safety committee, on the safety incident reports, add a link to the actual trip report so safety committee can see the other details of the report. Not sure if feasible, but idea from the safety committee.

For trip leaders - download relevant information so they can copy easily
Resurecting idea that was recommended by 2010 safety commmttee and volunteer support committee. Make an easy download of currently available information so leader can copy and paste into an email or pre trip report. Currently leader has to download from a couple of locations. Put in a text file for easy copying. Provide trip description, dates, leader notes, as then for each participant, name, phone #'s, emergency contact, city. Again, this information is currently available, but must be downloaded or copied separately. This will facilitate better pre-trip information gathering and leaving a better note behind for emergency contacts, and be… more

Please add the committee "Safety Committee" to each branch and properties committee that shows up under "Committee Rosters".
Need the committee "Safety Commitee" listed in each branch and the properties committee. This is needed from the organization wide safety committee.

The site needs to BREATHE the Freedom of the Hills on every page.
Right now it presents a blank face--corporate, boring, generic.
The mountains are adventure, beauty, and fuel for the soul. The site should reflect this. It needs art, and videos, and design.
Bring the mountains into the website.
1. There should be beautiful art on every page.
Give the photo groups the quest of decorating the site with their best.
2. Video! This is the age of multi-media.
Record and share the highlights of climbs, classes, and social gatherings. (again use the photo group's expertise here)
Post video how-to's. Little things like attaching crampons, snowshoes, elements of gear selection (reviews anyone?),… more1 vote -
post a page listing the classes required for a given program, link it to the schedule!
1) there is no FAQ section to the website
2) No where on the site can I find a listing of the courses required to complete a given program
3) There should be a listing of courses required for a given program
4) That list should link to the course descriptions
5) That list should link to the course schedules as well1 vote -
We just returned after much anticipation for the Banff Film Festival on 12/1 feeling like we were really ripped off.... It was depressing
Hire someone to pick out a more exciting group of films.... The commercials at the beginning were the highlight. Then 3 hours of sob story (only somewhat uplifting moments) glob without any thrill of what we had anticipated. My guests were disappointed, thank goodness my children decided not to come. Their Xbox is far more exciting.....
